Some of the objectionable scenes were re-shot at the behest of the Sikh Community leaders

SINGH IS KINNG has opened with a thunderous response at the box office counters. The pre-publicity was tremendous in all areas and hence the response at the box office. But certain areas and groups in Punjab seem to be very averse to the movie and its depiction of SIKHS. So, all is not well for the film, as around 20 Sikh youth indulged in stone pelting at the ANNAM theater in Amritsar, Punjab. The reason cited is that the film depicts the Sikh community in a deformed style. These protesters were armed with swords and portraits of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, the slain militant leader. Even though the police arrived on time and took charge of the situation, they were unable to nab the protesters as they had fled the scene.

Some of the objectionable scenes were re-shot at the behest of the Sikh Community leaders and they approved the final product. So, these attacks are a surprise to the film’s unit. The situation now is that there are armed security personnel who have been posted at the theatres screening the film in Amritsar.
