Lara Dutta loves coffee

hot-lara-dutta

What’s brewing in Lara Dutta’s life these days? A hot and steamy affair, for sure - with coffee, that is. The Bollywood babe and former Miss Universe has fallen head over heels in love with Gloria Jean’s Coffees. Yes, the world’s second largest coffee chain is here (brought to India by the integrated hospitality major Citymax Group, part of the retail giant Landmark Group of Dubai) to woo not just Lara, but the whole of Mumbai. Established 30 years ago, the brand has 866 outlets in over 31 countries, including 456 in Australia. Here, it set up shop on Turner Road in Bandra, and hopes to touch 500 outlets in five years.

Dressed in a cool creation, Lara strolled into the chic and comfortable coffee house, like a summer breeze. “I like it hot,” she said, talking about the coffee, of course. Coffee is her current flame, not her very first love, having discovered it late in life, some five years ago. A cup of coffee, she feels, is great to pep you up when you are feeling down - and it’s also nice to sit down and enjoy a cup with friends. In between takes during her Bollywood movies, she survives on coffee.

At Bandra, besides enjoying her cup of coffee, Lara listened intently to Australian coffee expert Brendan Guest taking guests on a coffee cupping session. It was just like a wine-tasting session, but with the words and emotions even more descriptive, almost taking you on a high as you felt the aroma, flavour, body, aftertaste and finish. Later, Lara even tried her hand at brewing her own cuppa - from grinding the highest quality Arabica whole beans that were handpicked and sorted and constituted the top two per cent of the coffee produced in the world. It was a fitting finale to the steamy soiree.
