People are fed up of cricket and movies -Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor truly believes that people are frustrated due to India loosing badly in the recent ICC 20:20 matches. This has only created further hunger in them to go visit the theaters again and that would certainly help his production SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON as well.

''The film was supposed to come earlier this year but due to strike, we moved it ahead. However, it was not frustrating at all to get into this little waiting period because by now audiences are in any case starved of good entertainment. I guess the timing is just perfect for the film to arrive'', says Anil Kapoor from USA where he is currently stationed for the TV series that he is acting in.

With the current ODI series with West Indies not really creating much hype and the 20:20 loss still being alive in a die hard cricket fan, it appears to be back to movie watching with a vengeance for audience, as reflected in the recent hit NEW YORK.

''That's true'', agrees Anil Kapoor, ''People are fed up of cricket and movies are being topmost priority again. In any case, it also boils down to how good your product is and in this regard, I am supremely confident of SHORTKUT - THE CON IS.''

Since the film is set in Bollywood, does it take the spoof route?

''No, not at all. The film is not spoofy at all and is in fact quite real. It has an inherent humor to it with a love story which is very real between Akshaye Khanna and Amrita Rao. There are quite a few elements in the film which are very real. Be rest assured, there is a lot of entertainment in store for you when you watch the film'', concludes Anil Kapoor.

Govinda is back to troubling his makers by coming late

If reports are to be believed Govinda is back to troubling his makers by coming late on sets, some report about his superstitious habits.

Govinda however prefers to maintain his cool about all this without letting it affect him. He states in this regards, “I have never troubled any filmmaker or any person for that matter before or after joining politics. I believe the moment I give a hit film, people start talking and writing negative about me. And I know there are some groups in Bollywood who don’t like my films doing well. I don’t believe in working in groups, which seems to be a new trend in Bollywood these days.”

About how does manage to remain in the news for all the wrong reasons, Govinda states, “Earlier I used to think a lot as to why such things happen only to me. Gradually, I learnt not to give too much attention. But now I know how to tackle all these things. One should learn from one’s mistakes and try not to repeat them.”

Bollywood’s most elegant in love couple Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were spotted at a Bandra, Mumbai cafe on Sunday June 28th evening.

Salman and Katrina arrived together at around 6pm. Both were looking extremely happy and it appeared as if they had arrived to celebrate the success of Katrina’s new release New York. Irrfan Khan has won a nomination for the Man of the Year

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has won a nomination for the Man of the Year in a poll conducted by international magazine ’Gentleman’s Quarterly’ popularly known as GQ.

Irrfan Khan dazzled on the GQ cover recently. Dressed in sophisticated suit, Irrfan created a completely new image of himself. The cover transformed Irrfan Khan the talented actor into a style icon, elite socialite and a celebrity.

It’s the inaugural Indian GQ Men of the Year Awards. Before this people like likes of Barack Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Clinton, Michael Caine , Rio Ferdinand and Gordon Ramsay have won this prestigious award.

The greatest musicians of our time.MJ-A R Rahman

A R Rahman is shocked at the untimely passing away of Michael Jackson. “I am yet to find an artist with that energy, perfection and vision. He was one of the greatest musicians of our time.MJ for most of our generation was an icon who made uncompromising music.”

Elaborating on MJ’s contribution to world music Rahman says, “He pushed the milestone of pop music to unbelievable levels through the 80s and 90s.”

Rahman met MJ very recently for the first time. “I met him personally after the Oscars in Los Angeles and we vibed very well. He said that he loved India and the Indian people. He said he heard good things about me and he was praising the chord progression of Jai Ho’s chorus.”

Rahman was impressed by MJ’s exuberant adrenaline-pumping energy. MJ even danced for Rahman!

“He was bursting with energy and told me that every dance move he did came from his soul and did a five -second stunning example. It was like a lightning strike,”says Rahman.

They also spoke on global concerns. “He was concerned about developmental issues such as Global Warming and about wars and its damages to the human community.He asked me to compose a unity anthem on the likes of "We are the World " for him. I nodded in awe.”

MJ introduced Rahman to his children. “He introduced me to his three lovely bright Kids. The kids told him, ‘I love you dad’ and he replied, ‘I love you more’ as a proud father.I wished him well for his concerts and he said, ‘God Bless you’.

Growing pensive Rahman who recently lost a close musician -friend H Sridhar says, “After hearing the shocking news of MJ’s death I wished it was another rumor which

would fade away soon. It took me time to believe that he is no more.I remember, my late sound engineer Sridhar had brought me a video of the premiere of ‘Remember the Time’ when I was recording the track ‘Kadal Rojave’ for my first movie Roja. Seeing it inspired all of us that afternoon.Now, there is no Sridhar and no Jackson anymore.”

Rahman closing lines on MJ are moving and yet hopeful. “I hope all of us value people’s existence more and respect them when they are alive. Life is short.Artists and their art live for ever. Jai Ho, MJ !We love you for your music, regardless of all the controversies!”

Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra together again for ‘Sahib Biwi and Gulam’

Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan had appeared together in ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ but the movie failed to create magic at the box-office. Now, the two stars are set to appear together again for ‘Sahib Biwi and Gulam’ which is being produced and directed by Rituparno Ghosh.

The movie tells the story of a wealthy zamindar and his beautiful wife. The zamindar is in habit of visiting brothels and kothas which leaves the wife lonely. Then there is a young man named Bhoot Nath who is hired as a servant to this zamindar. Bhootnath comes close to the lonely wife and both soon develop a platonic relationship. Then Bhootnath comes to know and feel his mistress’s loneliness and the life she is cursed to live.

Shah Rukh Khan has turned down the offer to play Raj Thackeray

Shah Rukh Khan has turned down the offer to play Raj Thackeray in Raju Kokate’s forthcoming release Mumbai Tiger.

Ashutosh Gowariker, who directed Khan in Swades, approached the actor about portraying the part, however, Khan was not keen to reunite their partnership after their initial film flopped at the box office, reports The Times Of India.

“Ashutosh even told Shah Rukh that they could co-produce the film and he had no issues with Shah Rukh’s style of working on commission basis. But even this did not evoke a favourable response,” a source told the newspaper.

Marathi film and stage actor Ashok Shinde has now been lined up to play the politician it has been speculated that he bears semblance to.

Bipasha and Katrina that erupted when they did Race together

Last week Yashraj Films saw a very private very special screening of New York, by far John Abraham’s most important film to date.

Tongues began wagging attributing her absence to the feud between Bipasha and Katrina that erupted when they did Race together.

Said a source, “It is true the two aren’t the best of friends, to put it mildly. And Bipasha certainly doesn’t want to be seen anywhere near Karina, and vice versa. But this is her boyfriend’s most important film. And she won’t let her personal prejudices get in the way.”

Shedding light on her absence from John’s important day Bipasha says, “I couldn’t make it for that special screening.I was in Goa shooting. And there was no off day. It’s a crazy schedule out here in Goa, and quite impossible to get away.

We’re shooting the climax of All The Best with a crazy number of characters. You’ve no idea what it is like here. I barely get enough sleep and then I’m back on location. I’ll watch it as soon as I’m finished with this schedule in Goa.”

Bipasha has heard only good things about John’s performance in New York. “I believe John has done a fabulous job. Everyone who saw it says so. I don’t think I’ll be able to see it for a few weeks yet. There’s just no time. I finish in Goa at month-end and rush to Delhi. I’ll even have to miss my father’s birthday in Mumbai on June 30.”

Any regrets for not watching John’s best performance yet? “That’s okay. John has seen some of my films months after release, if at all, ” she chuckles.

Michael Jackson passed away...

The King is Dead...Long Live the King! Michael Jackson, whose excellence as an artist was matched only by his eccentricity, is no more.

According to the reports, the 50-year-old international icon fell unconscious and passed away at his rented home on Sunset Blvd, in Bel Air.

"His personal physician, who was with him at the time, attempted to resuscitate my brother," Michael's brother Jermaine Jackson said last night.

Paramedics were called at 12:26 p.m. local time and the unconscious King of Pop was rushed to UCLA Medical Center, but in vain.

"You've got to save him!" Jackson's supporters were screaming after he was wheeled into the hospital on a stretcher at 1:14 p.m., according to a leading website.

The doctors tried to rescue him but he was in full cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m.

London's Sun reported that Jackson's supporters told doctors that Michael had taken an injection of the painkiller Demerol.

"He started to experience slow, shallow breathing," a source said. "His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped. His staff started mouth-to-mouth and an ambulance was called, which got there in eight minutes."

Around 7 pm local time, Jackson's body, shrouded in a white sheet, was moved to the office of the Los Angeles County coroner for an autopsy today.

Jackson - who had battled addiction to painkillers and among myriad health problems - died in the midst of a comeback bid, with 50 sold-out concerts planned for London this summer.

Jackson's family lawyer Brian Oxman accused "enablers" of pushing the star too hard physically as he prepared for the tour.

Ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis' daughter, said she was heartbroken for Jackson's three children and other family members.

"I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible," she said. "This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me."

Madonna said she "can't stop crying."

Shah Rukh will be sharing the screen with President Obama lookalike

Saif Ali Khan couldn’t buy his demands

It was reported that Saif Ali Khan couldn’t attend the recently concluded IIFA Awards 2009 at Macau in order to promote his home production Love Aaj Kal at the Twenty20 World Cup. However, sources said that Saif was shown the door by IIFA organisers, as they couldn’t buy his demands.Saif was supposed to perform and promote Love Aaj Kal at IIFA but his unreasonable demands angered the organisers of the event.

He wanted an early exit from the event and demanded that he performed before Sonam Kapoor, which was unreasonable. He also told the organisers that he would go to a T20 match after the show which was granted.However, his main intention was to attend a party which his friend from Hong Kong was throwing for him and ladylove Kareena Kapoor.

It’s said that IIFA organisers told him clearly to either attend his friend’s party or the event.Thus Saif walked out of the event!

Shiney's reaction to the saying 'Imitation is the best form of flattery'

It’s said that ’Reel life always imitates real life’. If you are one of those who disagree with this, we are sure that filmmaker Kanti Shah will change your belief.

For starters, Kanti Shah is the ’almost King’ of C-grade films. Testimonials to his filmmaking reflect in his ’creative’ titles like Free Entry, Duplicate Sholay,  Kabhi Kranti Kabhi Jung (’K3J’), Marna Zaroori Hai and the last released Lage Raho Partner.

The goods news for all his fans is that this man is back and how! He has announced a very ’topical’ film called Rape. Yes, you heard the name right. Going by the ’USP’ of this filmmaker, we are sure that the ’topicality’ of this film has anything and everything related to the recent rape controversy surrounding Shiney Ahuja .

When we spoke to Kanti regarding Rape, he was initially reluctant to ’reveal’ anything about the plot reasoning that it was a very tight-bound script and has been strictly kept under the wraps. It took a little probing from our end to get the following ’revelation’ from Kanti.

He said "Yes, my latest film Rape has been heavily inspired by the Shiney Ahuja case. While the hero’s name is Imran, the heroine is Sapna and both are newcomers. Mark my words; they are definitely the faces to watch out for!

My film has got 5 songs in all with its lilting music composed by the very talented Sameer Sen (of Dilip Sen - Sameer Sen). Of these 5 songs, two are super duper item numbers!"

A little more probing from our end actually got us to the ’Plot’ of the film. Shah added, "All that I can tell you is that since the film is called Rape, it will obviously deal with the sensitive subject of rape.

And it has the hero raping the heroine. That’s all. I think I have told you enough. Beyond this, I cannot tell even a word more. But, do watch out for this film soon! It’s bound to rock the nation."

Well, for those who are waiting with bated breath for Kanti Shah’s Rape, here’s another piece of information. There’s yet another film that has been ’inspired’ by the Shiney Ahuja case. It’s called Chamak, The Shiny with actors Hiten and Divya playing the lead.

After all this, one wonders as to what will be Shiney’s reaction to the saying ’Imitation is the best form of flattery’.

I’ve learnt so much from Akshay-Kareena Kapoor

Despite of the recent flops Akshay Kumar continues to find support and words of praise from his oft repeated co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, who have not lost confidence in one of their “favourite co-stars”. One of the highest paid actors in tinsel town, Akshay gave two big-budget flops this year with “Chandni Chowk To China” and “8X10 Tasveer”.

Akshay is going to again test the box-office waters with debut director Sabbir Khan’s “Kambakkht Ishq” releasing July 3 and his co-star in the movie Kareena says she has not lost confidence in him. “Akshay is one of my favourite co-stars and it’s (’Kambakkht Ishq’ ) one of his best till date. He’s got all the ingredients to make a super film,” Kareena recently told reporters here.

Katrina who has starred with the actor in movies like “Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye” and back-to-back hits like “Namastey London”, “Welcome” and “Singh Is Kinng” is also all praise for the actor. “I’ve learnt so much from Akshay and I learn so much from him about films every time we are on the sets. He knows so much about cinema. His career has really taken a great turn with the time he’s spent in the industry,” Katrina told.

Sanjay Dutt will play the role which was originally done by Amjad Khan

Raj Kumar Santoshi is planning to start a new project based on the terrorism which had shaken Punjab during seventies and eighties. The film to be produced by Apoorva Lakhia will have Sanjay Dutt and Big B playing cops who had fought against terrorists in that Khalistan movement. The film is supposed to be a realistic one based on real facts and research just in line with ‘Shoot-out at Lokhandwala’ .

Now, Sanjay Dutt is again getting to enact another role of a cop. This Rahul Dholakia’s movie will be based on Kashmiri militancy and is titled ‘Lamhaa’. Talking about Sanjay Dutt, it may be mentioned here that Sanju Baba is out to remake Feroz Khan’s ‘Qurbani’ where he will have Fardeen to play late father Feroz Khan’s role in the film. Sanjay Dutt will play the role which was originally done by Amjad Khan.

The boldest gal in Bollywood Sherlyn Chopra says that she was flat chested during her growing years. Says Sherlyn in her itimes blog " Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and if the beholder is highly demanding, what he/she seeks for is perfection."

The lovely girl surely has a way with words. Sherlyn who has got herself surgically implanted boobs and buttocks candidly says that she doesn't endorse cosmetic surgeries, nor does she condemn them. "It was only recently, a couple of years ago, that I had decided to get surgically enhanced breasts. " says she in her blog post

Sherlyn Chopra belives that tangible assets (you know what she is talking about) and intangible assets can co-exist. She says that going under the knife is not at all risky to life, provided the specialist is good at his job; there are no scars or side effects and you start looking and feeling better. The frank and outspoken gal says that we all are prone to keep our dirty secrets inside us and just share the good thing to the world.

Sherlyn Chopra says she can't understand what the big deal is in getting implants done. And for those guys out there who wants to know how silicon feels against real skin, Sherlyn Chopra has her breast theory in place. According to her the surgically enhanced melons look firmer and rounder. So since they look too good to be true and close to perfection, Sherlyn says she cannot deny about them being silicon ones. So she would rather not say 'no comments' and lie about them, and instead own up that her assets are gifts of surgical enhancements.

Here's what Sherlyn Chopra says about the hypocrites who act holier-than-thou, "My
pseudo-intellectual friends say that a woman of substance does not talk about her physical / tangible assets, breasts in particular. Well, maybe she does. May be she does not. As for me, I shall speak to them - and of them - as long as they don’t give in to the Law of Gravity."

Nagendra Karri bringing Hollywood to Bollywood.

Nagendra Karri, a young Indian origin filmmaker has announced his 30 million USD film, named Mobster which will also be made in Hindi simultaneously.

Karri film 'Where are you Sophia?' was screened in the last Cannes Film Festival.

Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio or Russell Crowe is supposed to be playing the lead role. The Hindi version will have Aamir Khan, Kamal Hasan, Abhishek Bachchan or Rahul Bose playing the lead, as per the 26-year-old director. "We are also in touch with the agents of Eva Green for one of the main characters in the film,” said Karri. Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan Khan are also playing important characters in the English version.

The shooting of the film will start in September and will have India as the main location. “I am planning to shoot in the north eastern part of India, probably Mizoram or Nagaland, which are not known too much of the world,” said karri.

Tamanna MTV Roadies MMS Scandal: Fake or Real?

MTV Roadies hottie Tamanna or someone who looks like her is seen making out in an MMS video doing the rounds of the Internet. Basically, the video has a girl bearing a striking resemblance to Tamanna doing it with a guy, whose face is not shown. This video is the latest craze in the world of sleazy MMSes. Though it may be fake, the 25th second of the video has the girl looking just like Tamanna with a trademark cross around her neck, which she would wear in the show. Tamanna was popular with her fights with Palak who called her assets pimples. The video featuring abundant assets of Tamanna can dispel Palak's notions for sure.

Nauman who has been a close friend(?) of Tamanna has said that he has not seen the video and he feels that people her using her name to circulate a fake video. Arnold Schwarzenegger's adventure on midair!

The 'Terminator' star and California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, escaped an aircraft mishap in Los Angeles the other day.

Arnold was going to Santa Monica in his private jet when the crew noticed smoke coming from the cockpit. The flight made an emergency landing in Van Nuys airport. Everyone on board was reported safe and unharmed.

Arnold was cool about the incident as he gave an update in Twitter, the social networking website, saying, "A little adventure just now, when my plane made an emergency landing. All’s ok, though”.

Looks like his reel life adventures still follow the Macho hero!
