Amidst a war of words on who was responsible for the spurt in malaria cases in Mumbai, veteran playback singer Asha Bhosale, who posts interesting music and film trivia, today struck a different note on Twitter, commenting on the epidemic.
"Mumbai: Machhar war is in full swing", Asha said on the microblogging site.
This was followed by another tweet ’Machhar’ Raj, which elicited some queries by her followers to which she was quick to clarify that she was not referring to MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
"I meant too many mosquitoes buzzing adn flying around...I was only talking about the machhar (mosquito) problem all over the country. You are seeing some hidden meaning in my words," she said.
The noted singer asked her fans not to create unnecessary controversies, or else she would have to stick to "namaste, dhanyavaad & thank you."
"Controversies are created in a person’s mind. Words are harmless (as you have seen), Its how you perceive them that creates problems. Right? ", she said.
Asha told another follower, "Kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna..".
The post comes soon after Raj Thackeray blamed the migrants for the malaria epidemic in Mumbai. Even Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and rural development minister Jayant Patil, also the guardian minister of the city had attributed the rise in malaria cases to migrant construction workers in Mumbai.
