Sonam Kapoor and Aisha flying high
"Aisha" was released with a bang on 475 screens across India and at 135 screens abroad. Besides India, it also did well in the overseas market. The movie based on Jane Austin's "Emma" earned Rs 260 million worldwide over the opening weekend!
Everyone was eagerly waiting to see Sonam Kapoor and it is quite evident that moviegoers were not disappointed. May be this is the first time that a Bollywood movie with a dominant female protagonist has done this well in India and overseas. The movie also features Abhay Deol, Arunoday Singh, Cyrus Sahukar and Ira Dubey, who have performed brilliantly too.
The story revolves around Sonam Kapoor’s character and she is said to have come out with outstanding performance.
The responses have been average in small cities and towns. Sonam Kapoor in "Aisha" actually represents the modern girl of India, and the city halls are packed for every show.
