2009 better spell success for these Bollywood actors

2008 hasn’t been kind to some inhabitants of B-Town. The New Year brings new opportunities and new beginnings so 2009 better spell success for these Bollywood actors.

Preity Zinta: Preity was seen more on the cricket field than on the silver screen this year! Her movies like The Last Lear and Heroes had a lackluster run at the BO though her performance was appreciated in both. We want to see bubbly Preity in masaledaar hit movies like Salaam Namaste and Kal Ho Naa Ho. Well, we hope her Mohali team wins at the IPL this year, romantic comedy Har Pall rings in some cash, and she bags a YRF or Dharma Productions film in 2009.

Shahid Kapoor: Shahid Kapoor’s last super hit film was Jab we Met last year and that was largely Kareena Kapoor’s film. His hyped release Kismat Konnection failed to connect with audiences. His romance with hottie Sania Mirza and Vidya Balan also fizzled out. He is rumored to be dating a certain Mubina Rattonsey so we hope things work out for him on the romantic front. On the film front, he has YRF’s Cricket with Rani Mukerji, Ken Ghosh’s musical extravaganza Yahoo with Jiah Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminay with Priyanka Chopra. So he has plenty of opportunities to reinstate himself as an actor and as a reliable box office magnet.

Zayed Khan: He became a father this year and got into trouble for excessive merrymaking in Thailand. Mission Istaanbul and Yuvvraaj were super hyped super flops. He had important roles in both but his performances proved he was in desperate need of acting classes! Let’s hope his scuba diving skills and chiselled beach body that he will show off in Blue help him gain a better footing in B-Town. He also has dad Sanjay Khan’s The Legend of Lord Rama and Apoorva Lakhia’s next in his kitty.

Fardeen Khan: He was last seen in RGV’s debacle that was Darling. He hasn’t had a single release this year. Dulha Mil Gaya will finally release in 2009. Sanjay Gupta’s stylized action thriller Acid Factory looks promising and we hope that it gives Fardeen recreate his flagging career. Besides these two, he also has Abbas Mustan’s multi-starrer comic caper Life Partner.

Vivek Oberoi: Vivek got a new lease of life after his awesome performance as gangster Maya Dolas in Shootout at Lokhandwala. But Mission Istaanbul, where he reunited with director Apoorva Lakhia failed to kick up a storm at the BO. Vivek is a good actor but his arrogance has ruined his career. With a Tips action film called Prince of Thieves, Dharma Productions’ film on terrorism alongside Saif and Kareena where he plays a terrorist and a role in Prakash Jha’s multi-starrer political thriller Rajneeti he has the potential to get his career back on track.
