Six-packs are history. The latest fad in B-Town is the starved look which Kareena Kapoor has made famous (or notorious, for that matter). Following in her footsteps, best buddy Amrita Arora has shed the kilos and now sports a thin frame. When we caught up with Amrita at the opening of a nightspot last week, she looked painfully slim.
Says Amrita, "I know that I look thin. A lot of my friends called up to say that I’m looking skinny but I love the way I look right now. I am doing this for myself. When I lose weight they crib and when I put on they say I’ve become fat. I haven’t lost weight drastically. I lost three kilos in three months. I have been working out a lot and that day, I left for the event straight from a shoot."
Amrita feels she is losing weight the right way. "I’m alternating thrice a week between yoga and gym an have started following a regular diet. It’s always nice to be fit and have a nice healthy lifestyle. People tell me I have lost so much weight but I was always 48 kilos that’s what I weigh today. Last year, I had put on weight but now I’m back to my original size."
Some people would say she looks anorexic. Amrita begs to differ. "Hardly so. I’m eating more meals than I used to. Now I’m on mini meals. I love my food way too much to stop eating it. I also work out at Zarine Watson’s gym."
Kareena lost a lot of weight last year and today sports a wafer-thin look. Is this the Kareena influence? Says Amrita, "Yes. Friends have positive influences on each other. Bebo got me into yoga and today Priya from Bharat Thakur’s school of yoga teaches me for an hour everyday. I feel calmer and lighter. Yoga makes you feel fit. Bebo lost weight the right way over two-and-a-half years. She advocates healthy eating."
The two also share the same dietician Rujuta Diwekar. Amrita says, "Earlier, I’d eat a heavy lunch or snack and break down my meals. Today, I have Rujuta who plans my diet chart, which just got healthier."
