Three biggies are all set to clash on the Republic Day weekend

It is going to be a battle worth a watch as three biggies are all set to clash on the Republic Day weekend. Amitabh Bachchan’s Rann, Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots and Ranbir Kapoor’s Rajneeti are slated now to release on January 22nd 2010.

Ramu’s Rann was earlier planned for October 2nd release date but following the censorship issues about his Jana Gana song he seems to have decided to push the release ahead.

Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots starring Aamir, Kareena Kapoor , Madhavan and Sharman Joshi was slated for a December 25th 2009 release date but again with the dates shuffling post the two months strike, it won’t be possible for Aamir to make a Christmas Day hat-trick.

Rajneeti on the other hand was always slated for a January 22nd release date. This Prakash Jha film is carrying excellent reports and also stars Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal in it.

A trade insider tells us, “It will be battle royale no doubt about it even if one of these films chicken out. Each film has its strong points and worthy contenders.”

Another trade analyst says, “Though they may clash into each other, with the extended weekend they would get with the Republic Day holiday each one will manage to get their required space. But what a feast it would be for the audience!”

Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince becomes No.1 hit of the year

The sixth instalment ofHarry Potterhas given Hollywood studio Warner Bros. its seventh No.1 hit of the year and has pushed the studio’s domestic gross past the $1 billion mark.

The success of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" comes on the heals of the studio’s recent comedy "The Hangover", which, with more than $235 million in ticket sales thus far, has become the highest-grossing R-rated comedy ever domestically.

Warner Bros. has said in a statement released Sunday that it is the only studio to earn $1 billion annually for nine consecutive years.

Imran Khan is really emotional about his ordinary girlfriend

The little birdie has it that the lad has gone a step ahead in making his lady love feel special on his birthday and has taken time off to head to a secret destination for a romantic getaway far from the maddening public glare.

Sonali Bendre has not given up on her love for films

She might have moved from the big screen to the smaller one. But it seems actress Sonali Bendre has not given up on her love for films. Shooting non-stop for her reality show, Sonali admits that the small screen is no less tedious than the film medium.

Speaking about her stint with TV Sonali says, "I find TV equally time consuming. Though I have not given up on films, I am still waiting for the right script to come my way."

Sonali is shooting for the reality show INDIA"S GOT TALENT along with Shekhar Kapoor and Kirron Kher.

Throwing more light about her plans to come back to films, the actress adds, "Films will always remain my first passion. In am too tied with my TV schedule at the moment but I would love to make a comeback to films soon."

Well, let’s hope the actress realizes her dream soon.

Hrithik Roshan is going the Aamir Khan way

Hrithik Roshan is going the Aamir Khan way. Surprised? Well he is turning himself into a method actor just the way Aamir likes to approach and do his role with perfection.

Our sources close to Hrithik reveal; he is doing it for his upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Guzaarish, also starring Aishwarya Rai.

He further reveals, “Hrithik plays a paraplegic patient in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. He is shown confined to a wheelchair mostly in the film with Aishwarya Rai

playing nurse to him. Now to bring more perfection to his act, he has begun visiting a suburban Mumbai hospital almost every day to observe paraplegic patients.

He mostly goes in during the early morning times when the hospital is less crowded and before the visitors start coming in. He has even started interacting with the patients there.”

Incidentally, Hrithik plays a radio jockey named Ethan in the film before he turns paraplegic, so we won’t be surprised if he starts visiting radio stations for the same soon.

Dia tells Marie Claire that she’s doing some half a dozen movies with a plethora of offbeat roles. She reveals that that there’s Kaun Bola with Arshad Warsi, Acid Factory, Kisaan, Johnny Mastana with Rensil D’Silva, Alibaug and Fruit & Nut with Cyrus Brocha & Boman Irani.

Shahid Kapoor chosen for Rajiv Gandhi Award

Chocolate boy and youth icon Shahid Kapoor has been selected for the 12th Rajiv Gandhi Award fro the 'Best Actor' category.

This award function will take place in Mumbai in the second week of August. Prior to Shahid this honour has been given to many other popular celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Mukesh Ambani, Sunita Williams and Aishwarya Rai.

Shahid said: "I was pleasantly surprised to get the news about my being chosen for the prestigious award. I am only 28 years old and it's really early in my career. I feel humbled and honoured to be chosen by the jury."
