Shah Rukh Khan Won the Farah’s Joru Ka Gulaam award

The Badshah of Bollywood,Shah Rukh Khan is back, this time as a guest on the chat show Tere Mere Beach Mein. Host Farah Khan makes a vibrant entry and introduces the nominations for the best ‘Pati’ (husband) or Joru Ka Gulaam award.

The nominations are: Abhishek Bacchan for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan; Anil Ambani for Tina Ambani; Hrithik Roshan for Suzzane; Sachin Tendulkar for Anjali; Akshaye Kumar for Twinkle. But the award for slavish devotion to one’s wife goes to the one and only - Farah’s best friend and the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan.

Farah congratulates SRK and presents him the trophy, as SRK admits shyly that he likes all sorts of awards. He may be over 40 years old, but is very thankful to all for this award as he has been waiting for this for a long time! SRK thanks God and his mother for it and shares that it was actually his mother who made him capable of receiving the award.

SRK admits that it was his mother who taught him how to be a ’Joru Ka Ghulam’ like his father. He thanks his parents for finally receiving the award and adds in his remarkable witty style, “Wife ko main thanks publicly kabhi nahi karta hoon, roz subah uttkar main unke charan (feet ) paani se dhokar peeta hoon!”

And his message for the other nominees is to persevere for such an award; "Main in sabhi nowjawaano se kehna chahoonga ... ki aur mehnat karo aur koshish karo ki biwi ke gulaam ban sako, aur main unko yeh bhi clear karna chahta hoon ki just because yeh Farah ka show hai, yeh STAR TV par hai, isliye yeh award fix nahi hai! Yeh mera haq hain aur maine haq se jeeta hai!"

Shah Rukh Khan dubs for a historical South Indian movie

Bollywood Badshah has been roped in to dub for a movie made in the South. The national award winner director T. Hariharan is bringing up a magnum opus with ‘Pazhassi Raja’. The movie is based on a popular Kerala King who is considered to have first initiated the freedom struggle against the British rule.

It has been reported the during the shooting of ‘My Name Is Khan’, Hariharan approached SRK in Film City and SRK agreed and was particular that he will not accept any fee for this. He has recorded a 45 seconds long prologue for the movie.

The Malayalam and Tamil versions will be done by Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan respectively. Mollywood’s super star Mammootty plays the hero. The movie is expected to make a release with 525 prints in five languages. Whereas, Kollywood’s Sarath Kumar, Gyanpeeth award winner M T Vasudevan Nair, music maestro Ilayaraja, Oscar winner Resul Pookkuty and other big names are said to be part of this project.

Karan Johar on 'Wake up Sid'

Karan Johar, the producer of the much talked about upcoming movie, spoke about Wake up Sid: “First time, Ayaan narrated the script; I was just shocked and backed off. Well, it had no elements that my films usually are far-famed for. No gloss, glamour or grandeur. Of course, these have been the best assets in all my films.”

There's this unusual pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona, which has actually turned the spotlights on the film. Adding more about the film, Karan Johar says, “It will be a new-fangled flick from Dharma Productions with no-factors of comedy, glamorizing quotients and romance.”

The number of the movie by Shankar-Ehasan-Loy have topped the charts. Let's watch out for the movie and see if that tops the charts too!

Shah Rukh in yet another ad

King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a new ad film shortly. When it comes to endorsements, whatever it may be, he is always there, convincing people to grab the product, and does it well.

He has the maximum number of ads to his credit by now, and here comes another one - Emami's Chyawanprash. SRK will play a commoner while Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta will take up his wife's role. The ad film will be directed by Ram Madhvani of Equinox Films who shot to fame with ‘Bheja kum’ in Taare Zameen Par. The shooting is schedules for the first week of october and the ad should go on airs by the end of the month.

BLUE match with international standards of film making

In a few days from now, BLUE would be there for everyone to see. Touted to be India’s first underwater film which would actually go on to match international standards of film making, BLUE promises to bring with it some never seen before visuals and stunts. Considering the fact that Akshay Kumar, the antagonist of the film, has been known for breaking the barriers when it comes to action flicks, what was his reaction when Anthony D’Souza a.k.a. Tony first came to him with the idea of BLUE?

’’The first thing I did was watch straight into his eyes and ask him - ’Do you actually think you are capable enough of making a film of this scale, genre and setting? You may say that you want to shoot the film in space or on the moon but kehna alag hai aur karna alag! So how will you actually shoot the film?’ - reveals Akshay.
As things turned out, Tony had done his homework well in advance and showed some of his work from the past which included certain advertisements he had directed as well as some groundwork on BLUE.

’’Honestly, it all led me to at least started lending an ear to him’’, confesses Akshay, ’’I became further and further immersed into knowing how he was going to execute BLUE. After all there were also going to be extreme stunts in it and that too under water. Then Tony also showed me the work of the DOP. He is the same guy who has also shot PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. He even made me talk to him and once I did that, I was quite satisfied that at least Tony had his heart in the right place and he had done his homework well.’’

Sherlyn success last season Bigg Boss is back with a bang

After it’s stupendous success last season Bigg Boss is back with a bang! Only this time it’s getting bigger. If you thought Amitabh Bachchan was the only reason for you to watch Bigg Boss this time around, think again. If certain sources are to be believed Sherlyn Chopra will be roped in to add some glamour to the show.

A source from colors was quoted by a website saying, "One reason why we were interested in getting Baba Ramdev on board is because we got Sherlyn. So we wanted to create a Vishwamitra-Menaka kind of situation between the saint and the seductress in the Bigg Boss house. Unfortunately Baba opted out."

Ironically Sherlyn was approached as a replacement for Jade Goody in the second season but her hefty price demands put off the makers.

Saif sharing their weekend home with Hollywood's Pretty Julia

The entire Pataudi clan, former cricketer Tiger, his actress wife Sharmila Tagore and their three children, including star son Saif Ali Khan, were at Pataudi, Haryana, over the weekend sharing their ancestral home with Hollywood’s Pretty Woman Julia Roberts.

While Roberts, the first Hollywood celebrity to stay in Pataudi House that has now been converted to a heritage hotel, is at the Nafeez Manzil, the Pataudi family was at the main palace.

"Julia Roberts is our guest. She’s staying in a part of our property. We’ve let the unit stay in a flank because she’s a colleague and I know what it is like to shoot far away from home," Sharmila told over the phone from Pataudi Sunday.

"We’re staying in the main palace. They are staying in a separate part of the royal property known as the Nafeez Manzil. In the past, Aamir Khan shot and stayed with us for ’The Rising’. Deepa Mehta shot ’Earth’ in Pataudi though that portion was edited out," said Sharmila.

Sharmila says she came to her ancestral house, a short distance from the national capital, with her entire family for a family function.

"Tiger and I are here. He dragged us out here in this heat, much to our annoyance. Saif and my two daughters Sabah and Soha are also here for a Mewati Akikah ceremony which is a traditional Muslim mundan (head shaving)," said Sharmila, who is very angry at the way her son is referred to as the ’Chote Nawab’ in the media.

"Saif is a grown-up man of 36. There’s no Chote or Nawab in his personality. He wants to be known as an actor, though he comes from a royal family," she said.

Pataudi Palace belongs to Sharmila’s husband, the erstwhile prince of Pataudi and former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

Roberts, who is here to shoot the India part of her movie "Eat, Pray, Love", landed in New Delhi Sep 17. She has been shooting scenes with her Hollywood colleagues Billy Crudup, Javier Bardem and Richard Jenkins at the Ashram Hari Mandir in Pataudi, about 40 km from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Directed by Ryan Murphy, the movie is based on Pushcart prize-winning author Elizabeth Gilbert’s spirituality-travel memoirs, "Eat, Love, Pray", and features Roberts as Gilbert who travels to Italy, India and Indonesia in search of peace.

The 41-year-old will be in Pataudi till Oct 9 and is expected to leave for Bali thereafter.
