Shilpa Shetty with second Yoga DVD

One of the bottest bollywood women, Shilpa Shetty will be coming up with another fitness video. The original Yoga video was quite a rage and did better business than Bipasha Basu and Lara Dutta's DVDS. Shilpa says ""It isn't a yoga video like the first one. I can't reveal the concept. I'd rather keep it close to my heart until things work out."

As for her other plans, she says, ""I want to produce films with directors who are on the same page as me. That is definitely happening this year. My health clinic in Khar has also been completely re-done. Now you know why I like being called an active housewife."

Shahzahn Padamsee working butt off

Shahzahn Padamsee works her butt off in her home gym that she has invested in. The cherubic actress says that she does not quite like Yoga. . “I have to go to the gym to look fuller. I have a very small frame and I look really tiny on screen so I go to the gym to put on some weight rather than lose it.

“I find yoga very boring. I did it for a while but I got really bored of it. I love the energy and the vibes that I get in the gym. I would rather run on a treadmill than do yoga. Also weights give me a toned physique. Currently I love my frame."

She does not like to eat oily, fried stuff. "No chocolates absolutely and no oily food. I also have a lot of green tea and water throughout the day. Water flushes out the toxins from the body while green tea keeps me refreshed.” She has an early dinner and cuts down on her carbs after six in the evening.

Diets aside, ask her about her favourite food and she says, “I love the bombil fry at my favourite restaurant. Once in a while when I am in the mood to indulge, I eat up a storm.”

Sonam Kapoor's weight loss Program

Sonam Kapoor's weight loss program is commendable because she was once upon a time a hot girl. She has the record of eating 170 samosas in one day.But now, she may not be touching them at all

We arc from Peshawar-a city where rich food and eating with abandon are
a way of life. I am very proud of my roots. But I realised it is neither healthy nor practical to live that way. Being an actor, I cannot afford to be sloppy. I need to be healthy all year round. Of course, having a health-conscious mother has been a blessing. She's always made sure we ate , wholesome meals, and as a family, we avoid overeating.

So how did you end up putting on weight?

I was in a boarding school in Singapore for two year and somehow put on a lot of weight while I was there. Since I never planned on a film career, I neglected my diet and put on so much weight.

You when did you decide to lose weight?

I would have continued being obese and unhealthy but for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I started assisting him on Black, and one day out of the blue he asked me to take up acting. Acting in films means having a fit body. So I started working on my weight. Eventually he offered me Saawariya. But to set the record straight, I had actually started los¬ing weight before I was offered any film.

Tell us about your battle plan?

In all fairness, it was my mother who helped me get rid of my excess weight.
The first thing she did was to keep me off the stuff I was so fond of as a teenager-chocolates, ice creams, fried foods and sweets. My goal , was to lose 35 kilos.

I started weight training with trainers Shervir and Monisha; artistic yoga and Power Yoga with Bharat Thakur; Pilates with Yasmin Karachi¬wala and general fitness with trainer Zarine Watson. My training in Kathak helped me too. It's a vigorous form of classical dance and helps you get a toned body.

In addition, Zarine put me on six small meals a day-low on carbs and high on protein. My breakfast consisted of oatmeal and fruits. Post-work-out, I had brown bread with egg whites. Afterwards, it was a protein shake with juice. Lunch comprised dal, sabzi, one ragi roti, salad and a piece of chicken or fish. The evening snack, was high-fibre crackers with chicken cold cuts or egg whites. At dinner, it was soup, salad and a piece of chicken or fish. I followed this routine for a year and lost 35 kilos in all!

How do you keep healthy?

I never binge and eat everything in moderation. Also, I never ignore my cravings. I eat whenever a craving strikes, but in small portions. When I felt like chocolates three weeks ago, I didn't hold back, I took a small piece. When I'm traveling I carry an apple or sandwich or health bars to satisfy myself without piling on excess calories.

My grandmother taught me to sip on warm water first thing in the morning. It flushes out toxins from the system. I follow it up with honey and lime water. Another must for me is a 'no smoking' atmosphere, at home, work or in public places.

A lot of people still think starving can help you stay slim.

Yeah, looking at my figure people often assume that I don't eat much. On the contrary, I eat every two hours. Since my day is packed with strenuous physi¬cal activity-shooting, swimming or dancing-I never allow myself to go hungry for too long. If I feel peckish I snack on nuts and dry fruits.

Drinking plenty of fluids through the day is also a must for me. I drink coconut water every hour or two; it not only quenches my thirst but also helps me feel fun. Other natural drinks such as cucumber juice and buttermilk also help me stay hydrated and keep my energy levels up.

I am quite particular about avoiding fried foods and sweets. Salt and sugar are silent killers so I consume both in moderation by switching to natural sugars and seasoning in my food.

What's your Fitness Routine?

I was very sporty in school and played rugby, basketball and other games regu¬larly. This has helped me develop flexibil¬ity to step in and out of different exercise routines with ease. I feel cardiovascular exercises work best for me in combination with weight training. Each day of the week I focus on a particular body part, such as the abdomen, arms, shoulders or waist.

I do 30 minutes of cardio every day. Two days a week I follow it up with dance exercises learnt from Ashley Lobo. On other days I practice Bharat Thakur's Power Yoga. It is very strenuous but has immense health benefits. In summer, I like to swim as much as I can. Whenever I get the time, I play squash too, which requires a lot of strength. I try to do different workouts and balance them out in order to keep my motivation high; plus mixing exercises helps burn more calories.

What are your learnings from your weight-loss journey?

Erratic work schedules often make maintaining your weight difficult. But its possible as long as you eat healthy every day and work out a bit daily. Also its important to undergo a medical check-up to ensure that you havn't put on weight due to a medical condition.

What's next on your Agenda?

I thought I had slimmed down enough but my father got me a fat-free, sugar-free cake on my birthday this year, just to remind me that I am in an industry full of female actors who are slimmer than me! I know I need to be on top of my weight. Not because I am vain, because I have reached a stage when I cannot be anything but healthy!

Sonam's food diary

Breakfast
An egg white omlette, a toast, a seasonal fruit, a glass of warm water. When bored with this, I try an idli, or poha.

Lunch
Chicken, rotis, a seasonal vegetable, curd and fruits. I try to avoid red meat. Once in a blue moon, I do have white rice too. My rotis are made of bajra, bran or jowar or any low grade protein-rich wheat. I also have a few cups of tea without sugar through the day.

Dinner
What time I eat dinner is more important than what I eat. I usually have it by 6:30 pm. On most days it is a veg/chicken sandwich, salad and may be some crispy French fries (but not too many!). I also enjoy fish- grilled or cooked in a Spartan gravy. If I still feel hungry then I end my day with a glass of soya milk or a protein shake before going to bed. In addition, I take multi-vitamins.

Here are some tips behind sonam kapoor's weight loss.Enjoy!

Neha Dhupia's Sexy Butt Health Secrets

Neha Dhupia's butt is sexy, this is something that we all know. But she has gone ahead and shaped her bum so well that it sure is a sign of amazing health, the girl is experiencing.

Neha Dhupia has enviable fitness levels and is shaped like a Spanish guitar, but as any gym regular will tell you it's never enough. "Even after you lose those last two to three kilos, there are still those 'last few kilos' to lose!" says Neha. Lately, her distinctive rear has been chiselled into perfection. We get the diet and fitness plan that whipped her behind into shape.

The macrobiotic way

In January, Neha switched to a macrobiotic diet with dietician Shonali Sabherwal and pre-orders her dinner and lunch from her. The diet is rich in whole grains, organic foods and is free of dairy products. As a result, there is weight loss but no loss of energy which Neha needs to cope with, given her hectic schedules.

The macrobiotic diet introduces enzymes into your body that keep your digestive system healthy and clean, and capable of absorbing nutrition efficiently.

The meals come from world cuisine so that Neha, an avid foodie, does not get bored.

Even after you lose those last two to three kilos, there are still those ‘last few kilos’ to lose!

Her lunch is a power meal comprising 40 per cent whole grains, 10 per cent beans, 25 per cent vegetables, supplemented with an occasional salad or dessert. The dessert features only two or three times a week and is sugar-free, with no maida or sugar or dairy. It could be a piece of carrot cake or tofu cheesecake that uses natural sweetners.

Her dinner is light pre-monsoon it would be fish three times a week; these days it's a soup with miso paste, or a polenta pizza and a boiled bean dish.

The energy comes from brown rice, millets, amaranth (which is gluten free) and beans and everything is made from scratch. The cooking style retains the nutrition and Shonali only uses extra virgin olive and sesame oil, sea salt and organic ingredients as far as possible.

Neha starts her day with poha, fruit or cookies with a cup of green tea. If she is travelling, she consults with Shonali on what do eat during flights and abroad.

A macrobiotic diet helps you shed weight easily until the body reaches a plateau and then it is maintained.

Work out and about

Neha works out religiously, cramming in five to six days at the gym and four to five days of yoga. She has been practising Ashtanga yoga for three to four years now with guru Vinayak Dixit which keeps her core toned and her joints supple.

At the gym, her trainer Ahmed Yusuf has been raising the repetitions and weights she carries, while doing lower body exercises to tone it.

• She does 30 to 35 minutes of cardio every day, splitting it between the stationary cycle, elliptical trainer and treadmill.

• Other days her cardio routines involve three rounds of the Mahalakshmi race course or 50 minutes of running on sand at the beach. In this routine, she does 20 minutes of running followed by 10 minutes of brisk walking.

• Her work out is endurance based on four to five sets of various squats. Each set has 20 to 25 repetitions.

a) She does one leg squats that involve sitting down on one leg with the other outstretched, both hands in front of you.

b) Squat jumps, in which you go down till your thighs are at a right angle to your knees, your palms behind your head or clenched in front of you, body inclined forwards. Then you jump up on your toes and come down straight.

c) Regular squats with weights on the shoulder. Neha carries about 13 kilos of weights on her shoulders (since she wants to be svelte and not bulky) and squats down and gets up in 15 to 20 repetitions.

• Her resting time is only 15 to 20 seconds between sets.

• They also do leg extensions and side raises using the cable machine to strengthen her glueteal and hamstring muscles before going into the squats. She does these in three sets of 15 repetitions each.

• Ahmed uses the Swiss ball to put Neha through crutches to strengthen her back and core. She does three sets of 25 to 30 repetitions of straight and side crunches.

• When pressed for time, Neha just does ten minutes of cardio but at an incline of five or six on the treadmill.

• On some days, Ahmed instructs her to swim for half an hour using the breast stroke which work the lower body.

• Other days, they go trekking or camping to keep the work out interesting.

Sherlyn Chopra's Mangoes Fascination

Sheryln Chopra is a huge mango fan. She loves mangoes like anything and eats them voraciously and when she devors them, she cares two hoots about her figure. My memories of mangoes are closely linked with my father. He was very good at making aamras. As a kid, I recollect wolfing down hot piping rotis with aamras. So, every time I miss my father, I make myself some yummy aamras with rotis. As I was my daddy's girl, I would insist on getting the largest share of the aamras. I remember once stealing a couple of mangos from my neighbour's garden. My dad had given me a rap on my knuckles. He told me 'once a thief, always a thief'. That same day he went to the market and got me dozens of mangoes

To be frank, I am quite bad at bargaining. And when a shopkeeper tells me, "Madam, aap jaise log bargain karenge, toh aam janta kya karegi?" (If people like you start bargaining, what will commoners do?), that's it, I can't haggle anymore. Also, I lack the patience to scout around ten shops while buying. I randomly pick up mangoes and later realise that I have made a mistake. That's why I normally send my assistant or trainer to pick up mangoes for me. They're far better at it. My sister is good at bargaining too, so I send her at times.

Hansika Motwani's Fitness Secrets

Hansika talks about how her fitness regime makes her look sexy. She says,
I am a very active sports person. I follow football religiously and my favourite team is Chelsea. I feel that sports is the best way to bring out the best in you. Irrespective of which sport you play, it makes you a better person.

I swim a lot. I also play squash regularly. It is a unique sport fast, competitive, and an excellent workout. And, the weather in our city at present is so hot that I find no motivation to go and workout in a gym. One hour of squash can burn upto 850 calories. The best part is since you are playing a sport, you don't feel like you are working out.

Actually I was introduced to squash by my brother, and we have had many battles together in the court. Our scores are 27 - 12 in his favour, but I am fast catching up.
