Hrithik and Aishwarya in Guzaarish

After having successfully convinced audiences with their sizzling romance in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar, Aishwarya and Hrithik have been cast together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has dedicated this film to the living legend Lata Mangeshkar. After having made so many musicals and also having composed a song in Saawaria, Sanjay has now turned a complete composer.

When asked about the choice of actors he said these two epitomize the spiritual and physical beauty of Lataji’s voice. Well, it is not so common to associate then with Lataji’s voice as yet, but there is no doubt that Hrithik and Aishwarya are always a delight to watch on screen for their beauty and chemistry.

Priyanka replaced

Priyanka has had great and not so great releases in the last one year. We have heard that she lost out on some major projects.

For the sequels of her hit movies, rumors say that Deepika will replace her in Krrish 2, the resons being unknown to the media as yet. To add to this disappointment, Karan Johar has decided to take Katrina for Dostana 2. We guess this is because Priyanka walks away with Bobby Deol in the climax of the movie. So apparently it will be tough to weave her character into the story.

However, she has a handful working for perfectionist film maker Vishal Bharadwaj in Kaminey. To add to this she is acting opposite Shahid in this movie!

Shahid has been distracting all those around him with his new priced possession. This new sophisticated camera accompanies him everywhere, be it the sets of Ahmed Khan’s Paathshala or Ken Ghosh’s Yahoo.

The popular youth icon is found taking pictures in between his shots. So when there are flashes all of a sudden, now everyone knows it is Shahid’s doing.

Shahid being a perfectionist is also often seen discussing about lenses and angles with experts in the field. Guess he takes more photographs than photographers take of him these days!

Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley film that has created a stir ever

Oh, how much of a trick can the ‘First Look’ of a movie do? One quick look at the poster of TEEN PATTI and you know why production houses along their marketing teams and publicists spend so much time, effort and energy in coming up with that perfect ‘First Look’ of their product.

That’s further substantiated when you get to see Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley sharing the same frame for this Leena Yadav film that has created a stir ever since the poster was unveiled.

The poster features the two legends standing in front of a white board/wall that has dozens of mathematical equations scribbled on it.

To further support the visual appeal and the theme of the film, there is also a caption that reads - ‘An equation that changed all other equation’. Predominantly a Black & White framing with a touch of red thrown in, TEEN PATTI ensures that it is not a frivolous affair by showcasing it’s men in their suited-booted avtar, what with Madhavan and a few newcomer actors also staring from another poster of the film while wearing a similar outfit.

TEEN PATTI features Ben Kingsley as Perci Trachtenberg, a character who is widely regarded as the word’s greatest living mathematician.

On the other hand Amitabh Bachchan is Venkat, a reclusive math genius from India. They meet in a high rolling casino in London where Venkat tells Perci about an equation that could change the dialogue on mathematics forever. He has cracked a theory that could redefine the principles of probability and randomness.

Further to that, he is encouraged by professor Shantanu (Madhavan) to test his theory in the real world by practicing his equation to crack Teen Patti (a poker game). Also starring Ajay Devgan in a special appearance, the film which is produced by Ambika A Hinduja would most likely be released in the third quarter of 2009.

Mallika Sherawat - the Super Woman

After being the hottest property men can access, sexy Mallika Sherawat shifts her focus on entertaining children.

It has been on the news that this sensuous diva will now be on a comic book in a super snake woman avatar. An LA based publishing house will publish this comic series on Mallika’s home production with Tips, titles HISSSS.

There have been several superheroes into the comic world with vampires and werewolves. Now it is a snake woman. Though the final dates are yet to be decided, HISSSS will be launched as a comic book series and graphic novels which will introduce the super snake heroine to the world.

I miss Mumbai-Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle

Danny Boyle says coming to Mumbai feels like coming home. Being one of the minuscule minority who didn’t enjoy Slumdog Millionaire  I thought Danny for me was a long shot. But surprise surprise! Danny Boyle could be a huge lesson in accessibility to those Bollywood entertainers who react adversely to criticism and open their doors only to those mediapersons who praise their work.

Getting the Slumdog director on the line proved easier than I thought. I was immediately connected to him …no call-wait as a long battery of deputies inform the firang celebrity- director of the caller, no pretensions as he mumbled he was “still asleep” and could I call him back in an hour?

An hour later just before he got busy with a snarl of meetings before flying out of Mumbai, the softspoken auteur director took time off to answer some questions.

How do you feel to be back in Mumbai?
I miss Mumbai when I’m away.

Would you make another film in Mumbai?
Yes! In fact that’s another reason apart from the Trust why we’re in Mumbai. We’ve had couple of meeting about another project in Mumbai. It won’t happen this year. But it will certainly happen next year. I will certainly enjoy coming back to Mumbai to make another film.

Slumdog Millionaure has been an exhilarating experience for everyone?
Quite extraordinary.

Another film apart, what brings you to Mumbai, Danny?
 What we’ve come here for is to hand over …things…to the Trust (created for the Slumdog Millionaire kids). I know the newspapers want to write stuff like, ‘Danny Rides To Their Rescue’. The truth about what we’re doing is far less glamorous and far more professional.

What exactly do you hopet to achieve?
To put the resources in the appropriate hands of trustees and a social worker who will make sure that all the right steps are taken to ensure long-term financial security for the kids. We really need to get out of this cycle of unsavoury allegations and reports (about how the Slumdog funds are being used for the kids).

You seem to be pulled back to Mumbai by forces that aren’t exactly in your hands?
Not at all.It’s always a pleasure to come to Mumbai. We came here for many reasons, one of them was to meet the trustees and take the matter of the kids forward, to press the families to accept the accommodation that has been offered to them many many times and try to to reassure them. We don’t know why they didn’t want to accept the accommodation that was offered.

And have you succeeded?
 I’m glad to say we’ve slowly made our way forward. What matters is not what is written about the issue in the press but the long-term welfare of the kids. We want to make sure that the kids (from Slumdog Millionaire) benefit from the success of the film and from their presence in the film. And I’m confident they will benefit.

The growing expectations of a section of your film’s cast seems hard to deal with. How are you coping?
We’re trying our best. To be honest the most appropriate way we thought, was to make a big donation. And we did. Now we’re here to see the outline of the project that’s being carried out in Bandra East. This project will help approximately 5, 000 children and 2, 000 families. Most of them have nothing to do with the film and they may never know about Slumdog Millionaire.But the project will give back to the slum kids some of the benefit we got by working in it. I’d love to give back to the people of Mumbai some of the joy they’ve given me. These are people I probably wouldn’t see. But I feel their presence.
