Gurgaon, (IANS) Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Monday denied media reports that she is in the family way.”I am not pregnant,” Aishwarya, looking as glamorous as ever in a formal black suit, told reporters at a press conference at the PVR Ambience shopping mall here, on the outskirts of Delhi.

Aishwarya, along with her husband Abhishek and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, was here to launch the Idea Sarkar Raj Yatra.

She also dismissed reports that the couple had bought a bungalow in Dubai to hide her pregnancy from the media.

“I am sitting here in front of you. So, it is not true that we have got a bungalow in Dubai to hide (pregnancy) from the media,” she said.

Abhishek added: “We are not expecting a baby. In case we do, we will let you know. We will not rob you of that moment.”

She also clarified that she had not worn Rs.1 million-worth shades in “Sarkar Raj”, that stars all three of them, as reported in the media earlier.

“I am not wearing a Rs.1 million worth sunglass in the film as reported by the media,” she said.

Then I’ve nine endorsements for which I’ve to shoot ads round the year.Plus I’ve all these stage shows that require rehearsals. I can’t seem to find the time to do anything properly,” she laments from Melbourne where she’s shooting for Salman Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

She has in fact agreed to perform at IIFA in June and is rehearsing as she has never done. “I’m performing a medley of my songs from Jab We Met and Tashan. Gone are the days when I’d go on stage with just a little practice. Now I want to be my best in every stage performance.”

But where’s the time! “Here, at Melbourne I’m rehearsing for IIFA at nights and shooting in the day time. Am I over-worked? I’m exhausted. But what choice do I have? I’ve decided to take my live performances as seriously as my movies and endorsement,”she says.

She’s currently Melbourne and will next move to Los Angeles for a long 40-day spell of shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambhakt Ishq

“I’ll be away from home for more than three months at a stretch. I miss home. I miss my family. I’ve never been so much out of Mumbai. I’ll finish shooting here, then head to perform at the IIFA.

In fact I’m working so hard I hardly get sleep. I’m shooting in the day time and I’m rehearsing during the night.I feel like a I haven’t slept for ages.”

She’ll join Saif in London for a week in London from June 20. Saif will be shooting in the city for his first home production to be directed by Imtiaz Ali. Yup, the same film that Deepika Padukone is doing instead of Kareena.

And Deepika is seeing Kareena’s star-cousin Ranbir. “I’m so happy for them. I hope they’ll be happy together. It feels so nice to have another Kapoor from my generation doing so well.

He was fantastic in Saawariya. He’s here’s to stay. I feel a sense of pride and belonging for him.The Kapoors and Khans are rocking the industry.”

No hard feelings about not being in Saif’s first home production?

“None at all,” Bebo laughs. “I joked at the Stardust awards about not being in Saif’s first production and everyone took it seriously.

Honestly I enjoy meeting him outside Mumbai. At least we can have some privacy. At home me and Saif can’t even go out for dinner without people staring at us, constantly judging our behaviour…”

Salman Khan was missing at the premier of Sanjay Gupta’s Woodstock Villa, starring his brother Arbaaz Khan. Except Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora (who was seen with Arbaaz), no Khan member was present. The buzz is that it was the presence of the Bachchans (especially Aishwarya’s) that was the cause of Salman’s no-show.

Says a source, "Arbaaz held a trial on Thursday for the Khan family at 12.30 in the afternoon at Ketnav theatre in Bandra where everyone from Alvira and Atul Agnihotri, Salim and Salma Khan to Salman was present. After the trial, Salman drove off to his Panvel farmhouse in the evening. But the real reason that Salman and Salim Khan didn’t go for the premier, which was such an important event for Arbaaz was because Salim Khan and Salman wanted to avoid the Bachchan family. Recently, Salim Khan had made certain disparaging remarks against Amitabh Bachchan and it would have made an awkward moment for both if they had come face-to-face."

Apparently, Salman also wasn’t keen on coming. The source clarifies, "Though Salman shares a cordial relationship with Abhishek and a warm and affectionate relationship with the Big B, it would have made for another awkward moment if Aishwarya, the Bachchan bahu and he bumped into each other at the premier. Rather than have so many uncomfortable moments the Khan family decided to skip the premier."

Arbaaz, however, says, "Salman has just returned from a long and hectic schedule of Main Aur Mrs Khanna in Australia so he couldn’t make it to the premier. But dad and him and the rest of the family saw it at the trial at Ketnav. Also he’s currently very busy preparing for his TV show, 10 Ka Dum, which airs next week on June 6. We have seen the first episode and Salman is simply brilliant!"

Arbaaz is thrilled with the response he’s got for his performance in Woodstock Villa, where he plays Neha Uberoi’s husband. Arbaaz’s "biggest critic", his father, Salim Khan has also liked his performance. "Dad never gets over-enthusiastic in his praise so when he says it’s good it means a lot. He’s liked the film and my performance. It was a challenging role to play where I had to convey a lot silently through my expressions. Many have said that it’s one of my best performances in recent times."

After winning 2 awards at last year’s Star Parivaar Awards, this year Benaf has been nominated in two categories - Favorite Yogya Jodi along with Amit Verma and Favourite Beti, both for Baa Bahu Aur Baby.

“Since I have been winning for the last two years, this year too I am expecting to win. It’s fun to attend the award function and to top it all if you win an award it’s even better,” says Benaf about getting nominated.

About her journey with Baa Bahu Aur Baby, Benaf says, “It’s one mad world on the sets and you will not find anybody serious at all. Even though the actors are elder to me there is no age barrier and now it’s like now a second family for me.”

Benaf aspires to be a Bollywood actress. “If directors are listening, please offer me a role. I am really looking forward towards acting in Bollywood as a lead actress and shed the tag of a child actor.”
