Salman Khan in the wish list of Deepika Padukone

Deepika

She began her Bollywood journey with Shah Rukh Khan in `Om Shanti Om` but it is actor Salman Khan, who is on the wish list of Deepika Padukone.

"I am really looking forward to work with Salman," Deepika told reporters.

"In fact we were supposed to be paired up much earlier but then a couple of films didn`t quite work out. That`s sad but I am sure that in near future, we would be paired opposite each other," said the actress, who will next be seen with Farhan Akhtar in `Karthik Calling Karthik`.

The 23-year-old has already worked with hotshots like Akshay Kumar `Chandni Chowk To China` and Saif Ali Khan `Love Aaj Kal` and will next be seen opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Imran Khan and Neil Nitin Mukesh in `Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se`, `Break Ke Baad` and YRF`s untitled film respectively.

Meanwhile, one wonders what happened to a film called `Kick` which was rumoured to be featuring Salman and Deepika together. The remake of the namesake Telugu film, it was supposed to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by AR Murugadoss of `Ghajini` fame.

"It is plain rumour. Reports of me working with Salman in `Kick` are untrue. In fact I haven`t been offered any such film", the actress said.

While Deepika`s track record shows that she has been enjoying a release once every six months ever since the release of `Om Shanti Om`, the frequency is all set to
increase in the coming months.

Soon after `Karthik Calling Karthik` (February), Deepika would be seen in `Housefull` (April). Either `Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se` or her film with Neil Nitin Mukesh would be
her next release thereafter. Incidentally, both the films are being shot at a brisk pace.

With so much work happening and no play, isn`t she worried of burn out? Doesn`t she fear getting all tired and worn out with so much work happening month after month?

"Honestly, I don`t look at working in films as a job. I really enjoy performing and what I do is something that gives me maximum pleasure and satisfaction. I am better off facing the camera", smiles Deepika.

"In any case, I am taken well care of both on and off the sets. I feel comfortable and secure and there are no complaints whatsoever," she said.

Absent mindedly, he let me go as he turned to answer her, but I went ahead… I had learnt to cycle! I used to cycle to the medical store to fetch medicines for dad."

Salman Khan has launched a nationwide hunt for unsung heroes

veer

Apparently inspired by Aamir Khan, Bollywood star Salman Khan has launched a nationwide hunt for unsung heroes as he turns 44 Sunday to connect with the masses and also promote his forthcoming period film "Veer".

The hunt - for young men and women who have performed heroic deeds which the nation doesn’t know about - is one more effort by the actor in bridge-building and improving his image.

"Lately Salman has been going out of his way to connect with the masses. The idea to launch a contest on his birthday to search for unrecognised heroes came from Aamir Khan’s recent connect-with-masses Bharat Darshan which he undertook as part of the promotion for ’3 Idiots’," said a source close to the actor.

"People close to Salman advised him to find a similar point of connectivity with the common man for Salman’s forthcoming film ’Veer’. And what better occasion to show his affinity to the masses than his birthday?"

Confirming Salman’s plans to search and celebrate the lives of unsung heroes from all over the country, "Veer" producer Vijay Galani told IANS: "You’ve heard correctly. Salman is launching a contest to find real-life unsung heroes.

"Since he has played the hero so often on screen, he feels real-life heroes deserve to be brought out of anonymity. We’ll be going to the remotest corners of India to select these unknown heroes. Finally one of them will be given the ’Veer’ cup personally by Salman at a function in Mumbai."

The much-talked about film is about the bravery of a Pindari soldier and speaks of bravery exemplifying the courage of every oppressed Indian fighting for justice and independence. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film features Salman in never seen before avatar along with newcomer Zarine Khan.

Former Miss UK Lisa Lazarus too plays an important role in the film that also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jackie Shroff along with Sohail Khan and Bharat Dabholkar.

Actor Salman Khan is well-known for his generosity

Salman-

Salman Khan is well-known for his generosity but not many people know that his much-awaited forthcoming venture “Veer’ was offered to his ladylove Katrina Kaif before it went to the kitty of newcomer Zarine Khan. Now if sources are to be believed, the pretty new face Zarine had been an assistant to Katrina Kaif for quite a long time.

Zarine has been paired opposite Salman and plays the pivotal role of Princess Yashodhara. Reliable source reveal, “Yes, Zarine was offered the role after Katrina refused, due to date problems. Zarine had been an assistant to Kats for a while and now she is being launched by Salman.”

Now that’s what you call taking sweet revenge from Kats. What do you say Salman? And wonder what Katrina too has to say on that?

Salman Khan performed a life threatening scene in Veer

3363158

The leading star of Veer - Salman Khan suits the bill perfectly as the star performed a life threatening scene not once, but twice, all for the sake of the film.

Reveals a production source, “A robbery scene required Salman bhai to run on the top of a moving train. He did not use a stunt double, nor was he afraid. This stunt was a dangerous one, as one slip and he would have hit the ground and could have been pulled under the train with the speed it was moving in!”

“Salman Khan wanted another retake as he felt he could do it better, ” confirms the source.

And in all this intensity Salman managed to keep spot on to his humor and in true Salman Khan style while the train would pull in reverse without a care in the world, Salman, we hear would lie down on the train until it was time for another take.

Salman Khan surely is the real life Veer!

Salman Khan refused to work with David Dhawan

salmand

Salman Khan and David Dhawan, the successful actor-director team are now not on as good terms as they used to be before. It is a shame seeing as the number of hits they’ve given together, like Biwi No 1, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, etc.

Recently, Salman didn’t want David to direct producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s film, Sanki, which is the remake of South Indian film, Kick.

This is because he is upset that David has not been giving thought to Partner 2, which Salman was very keen on. Instead David has been working on Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham, whom Salman isn’t very fond of.

However, Sajid has denied this. He states that Salman doesn’t play any role in deciding who will direct the film. He has also denied any problems in Salman and David’s friendship and feels that such rumors are in bad taste.

Sajid is, meanwhile, still in the scripting process of his film, of which he recently acquired the rights. While he wants David to be the one directing it, he hasn’t spoken to him yet.

David didn’t know anything about all of this.

Fans will welcome in any avatar that Salman Khan chooses

1235192

In the beginning of their careers, many actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn or even a Sunny Deol, were typecast as action heroes. In time, they revealed their ability to slip into other roles as well. For instance, Devgn always known to be a brooding intense actor, has actually proved that he has a fantastic sense of timing where comedy is concerned. ’All The Best’ and the Golmaal series are a testimony to that.

Salman Khan , on the other hand, began his career with a sensitive, love story and then went on to do some action and comic films which have gone down well with audiences, who have now grown to love him in those avatars. The stupendous success of his last film ’Wanted’ and the earlier ’Partner’ have really brought the fact home that the actor’s fans really love to watch him either clowning around or bashing up the baddies.

Salman is believed to be feeling that he has been typecast by his audience which only wants him to see him in these two genres and has even confessed so in certain media reports. His comment obviously directed at the manner in which ’Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ bombed. While there is no taking away from the success of a ’Wanted’ or a ’Partner’, the fact remains that both these films were well made and executed by their directors, Prabhudeva and David Dhawan, respectively.

The fact of the matter is also that a Prem Soni could not do justice to his debut venture, ’Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’. One would like to argue that where Salman is concerned, his choice of films, unlike most of his contemporaries, has not always been the wisest. He has ended up doing a lot more mediocre movies, due to various reasons, than them and that is probably why a ’Wanted’ and a ’Partner’ stand out and probably give him that feeling.

He has another movie coming up for release , Vipul Shah’s ’London Dreams’. It will see him in another avatar and it will be great to see how the audiences take to Salman in this avatar. Incidentally, besides ’Partner’ and ’Wanted’, audiences have also loved Salman in ’Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ’Baghbaan’. It is great that Salman feels the need to explore different genres and grow as an actor. Rest assured, if the film is well made, his fans will welcome in any avatar that he chooses to don.

The actor still manages to garner a huge crowd wherever he goes. On Sunday afternoon, Salman was scheduled to play a cricket match at the Nehru stadium in Indore but the event had to be cancelled as he was mobbed by an unruly crowd.

On seeing Salman, the crowd went berserk and landed up on the playground thereby causing a security threat .

Salman has now decided that in future he would only do concerts and stage shows but no ground events.

Salman Khans show-stopped the ramp for two designers

You may like him or you may hate him, but you can never deny the fact that he is the sexiest hunk of our industry. And no wonder the audience went ga-ga over Salman Khan as he show-stopped the ramp for two designers at the grand finale of recently concluded Men’s Fashion Week.

Unfortunately, Salman was unwell due to a bout of flu during the show as he was quoted saying, “”I am not well and I have a severe headache.” But there was not a hint of flaw in his attitude as he removed the jacket in style on reaching the head of the ramp.

The 43-year-old Khan was there to support the cause of his own NGO ‘Being Human’ and dressed in a black suit, he walked down the ramp twice, once for Ashish Soni’s collection inspired by the chase sequence in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Don’ and again for designer-duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s ‘Hypernature’.

“Salman is a very close friend. I understand his sensibility and style of clothing. I have worked with him in the past for Mayur Suitings and I know what he likes to wear,” said designer Ashish Soni.

Salman kahan spoke at media about his marriage in a recent TV interview

sal

Salman spoke at length about his views on media professionals, his career and his much anticipated marriage in a recent TV interview. Salman lambasted the media stating, “You media people really believe that you can make anyone into the biggest star there is, right? Maybe you cannot make or break a star, but you can influence judges, lawyers, public prosecutors, etc. You can also give us more stress with family, old parents and 50 billion people calling up home and asking our family about what is the truth and what is not.”

When prodded on the million-dollar question about marriage, Salman retorted, “If you are going to ask me the same question billions of times, I get irritated. Always, ‘when are you getting married, when are you getting married’? Marriage is big. I’m not one to hide it. I will tell you when I’m ready. I’m not going to run away, man. It’s a respectable thing. But you know, this country has more important issues then just talking about my shaadi!”

Speaking about journalist ethics, a mellowed Salman said, “Friendship with journalists doesn’t mean they keep on writing anything. I have very few friends and those that I had, they’ve all passed away, a long time ago. Some of them were my childhood buddies”.

Salman Khan Newly discovered craving for organized social work

Salma

Trust Salman Khan to always court extremes. So far he has done not one short film on a public issue. Now starting next month we’ll see him in as many as 30 of these films on television, one after another, all for a cause. Salman Khan has never done so much media coverage before, and there’s a good reason for it. Almost all the marketing for Wanted will benefit Salman’s new charity concern Being Human in one way or another.

In fact, Boney Kapoor’s company has created 30 public-awareness short films with Salman which will begin airing a week before the release of Wanted. These films will have Salman addressing the public about social issues such as drugs, old people, crime, etc.

Boney says, “It’s true Salman’s keen interest in marketing Wanted has a lot to do with his newly-discovered craving for organized social work. This was a side to Salman that always existed. It just needed to be harnessed. Earlier too he contributed hugely to charitable and social causes. But not in this organized fashion.”

The 30 short films directed by Nikhil Saini are expected to give Salman a new image. He has always been seen to have the picture of an enfant-terrible. Now Salman wants to change that. He has seen his colleagues create public awareness. Now it’s his turn.

Says Boney, “About time. The 30 short films will be unleashed in quick succession one after another. Salman is one of the best human beings I’ve met. We first bonded over vodka and Bacardi in Hyderabad when he was shooting for Judwaa and I for Judaai. Later I asked him to do a 2-day appearance in Sirf Tum. He immediately agreed. When I asked his fee he said he wanted another drinking session like the one in Hyderabad. Then he did No Entry for me at time when I was going through a low. Even for Milenge Milenge he agreed to a cameo until he opted out for whatever reason.”

Salam had abandoned the project because of differences with Shahid Kapoor. Says Boney, “For Wanted we wanted Salman to completely abandon the bad boy image. Salman is a youth icon. And those 30 short films on public issues we’ve produced will project him as a responsible citizen and an icon who knows his duties.”

Salman Khan & Vivek Oberoi is shooting the film ‘Guzaarish’-Mehboob Studios!

16487

Aishwarya Rai has had a very ugly and very public breakup with both Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi and unfortunately both her ex boyfriends have been shooting close to the sets of her film ‘Guzaarish’ in Mehboob Studios in the last few days. Salman was here for his film ‘Veer’ and Vivek was there for a photo shoot for director Rensil D’Silva’s film ‘Kurbaan’.

While Salman opted to stay away from the sets of ‘Guzaarish’ to avoid any uncomfortable situation, Vivek chose another way to avoid meeting Aishwarya and also spend some time with his old friend Hrithik Roshan who is Ash’s co-star in the film. Vivek and Hrithik have grown up together, as they are both from Juhu.

First, Vivek made sure that Ash was not on the sets and then he dropped at the sets to meet Hrithik. What followed was a long, close and hearty chat between two friends. They were later joined by Bhansali.

According to sources, So, Vivek didn’t want to miss the chance of meeting Hrithik.

It’s great to see NEW YORK still chugging along!

Kambakk

Over the weekend gone by, NEW YORK completed 50 days at the box office. This makes it third consecutive success for Yash Raj Films after BACHNA AE HASEENO and RAB NE BANA DI JODI (if one keeps ROADSIDE ROMEO aside).

In its last seven weeks, NEW YORK has netted over 46 crores just in India, hence earning itself a bona fide HIT box office status. The film has managed to sustain itself over a period of time in spite of the fact that there has been record breaking opening by films like KAMBAKKHT ISHQ and LOVE AAJ KAL which ate away a major share of business over the weekends that they released. Still, it is immense audience appreciation and terrific critical acclaim that the film received that made NEW YORK sail smooth in spite of such huge competition.

Also, unlike so many films that have done maximum business in the first weekend and have only tapered down as weeks have progressed, NEW YORK has taken nominal drops and stayed on to gain consistent moolah from the box office.

The film has managed to help everyone associated with it. While John is finally being taken seriously as an actor, Neil Nitin Mukesh can afford to smile again after leaving the disappointment of AA DEKHEN ZARA behind. Katrina Kaif has continued with her golden run and is now being acknowledged for things that are much beyond her smile. And as for director Kabir Khan, he has already moved on.

’’Well yes, NEW YORK succeeding at the box office was quite reassuring. It made us all feel that we were doing something right. Currently I am looking at finalizing the subject for my next and the decision on that should be coming soon. I will be casting for the film only when the story and script is locked’’, says Kabir whose next would again be for Yash Raj Films.

Sallu would willingly welcome SRK On 'Dus Ka Dum'

1473183

Sallu’ s ’Dus Ka Dum’ which is on the verge of launching its second season has become the new talk of town. More so because ardent buffs are eager to see the star-studded turnout, as its being touted that the macho man of Bollywood has refrained from inviting his close film-associates to the show. Apparently it is a result of certain itsy-bitsy tiffs between Sallu and show producers.

Now that celebrities from various arenas of tinsel town are soon to step on the sets of this stunningly entertaining reality game show by choice of the show producers, the latest grapevine doing the rounds suggest SRK, the undisputed Baadshah of B-town will undeniably be one of the contenders.

Recently when Sallu was probed on its likelihood, after unsuccessful attempts of skipping this one, he gave in to say that burying the hatchet he on his show. Also adding, SRK would be fortunate to share screen space with him.

Well if this turns out to be true, atleast fans across the world will rejoice to see the long-lost buddies once again together, if not the second season of ’Dus Ka Dum’!

Salman Khan's Veer has been facing another controversy

3280182

Seems like Salman Khan’s troubles are far from over. His film Veer has been facing one controversy after another and the jinx continues.A little birdie tells me that half the cast that was to shoot in London has not been granted a visa yet.

So the poor director has been facing some serious issues shooting with just a part of the cast.Apparently among the ones who got the visa are Jackie Shroff, Sohail Khan and Lisa Lazarus. The rest are still in India and the director is tearing his hair.

Salman Khan wooing Asin at the Louvre Museum in Paris

Asin_Lo

Bollywood  director Vipul Amrutlal Shah has done what only a few filmmakers have managed. He’s got the permission to shoot his film London Dreams at the Louvre Museum in Paris where ‘The Da Vinci Code’ was shot. There’s a romantic song in the film that has Salman Khan wooing Asin at the Louvre.

Though the film’s unit wasn’t allowed anywhere close to the priceless paintings inside the museum (even Tom Hanks wasn’t allowed to shoot there), Salman and Asin did shoot at the inverted glass pyramid that’s one of the main attractions for the tourists at the Louvre, particularly after the fictitious revelation of ‘The Da Vinci Code’ that the sarcophagus of Mary Magdalene is underneath the pyramid.

However, instead of cracking cryptic codes or solving religious mysteries, Salman and Asin unraveled the mysteries of the heart while shooting their romantic song at the Louvre.

Salman Khan Gifted laptop To handicapped lady

 salman-

He may be called a bad boy by the media but the truth is Salman Khan has a heart of gold. Salman has been time and again proving it without making much ado about it unlike few other stars who make it a point to have the media around when doing charity work.

A source revealed, “Very recently a handicapped lady sent a letter to Salman Khan’s address wanting help. She didn’t want money but a laptop so that she could use it for doing her work and earn a livelihood.

So touched was Salman by her genuine plea that he personally picked up the best quality laptop from the market for her got it delivered to her.

The lady since then can’t stop saying thanks to Salman. Salman meanwhile choses to stay quiet about his good Samaritan act.”
