PC and Kat behaved like strangers at 17th Annual Star Screen Awards.

Priyanka and Katrina Kaif walked pass each other without even saying a ‘Hi’. The incident happened at the 17th Annual Star Screen Awards in Bandra-Kurla Complex. Says an eyewitness, “Priyanka and Katrina were next to each other for quite some time backstage.

Their eyes met, but they did not give each other even a faint smile. They behaved like total strangers. There was ample opportunity for both the ladies to at least acknowledge each other’s presence but even that did not happen. Everyone around them noted this.”

Just for those who do not know the history of their rivalery, Priyanka was upset when Katrina stepped into her shoes for Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana 2. And then Katrina walked out of Anurag Basu’s Barfi (earlier titled Silence) when Priyanka signed up for the second lead’s role.

But what’s more surprising is that, just a few days ago, the two girls hugged and kissed at Salman Khan’s Being Human function. All those exchange of hugs and kisses between Priyanka and Katrina were fake. They still hate each other.

2011 is going to be a busy year for the Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is miffed and its all because of Priyanka Chopra. Just days after it was reported that Priyanka Chopra is the latest addition to Anurag Basu’s ‘Khamoshi’ that has Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, Kat has walked out of the flick.

Wonder why? Its simple, Katrina is in no mood to share the limelight, especially when it’s with an ace actress like Priyanka Chopra. With her opting out the film, Kat hopes to send her message loud and clear that it’s only solo films for her, from here on.

Confirming Katrina’s decision, a close friend of the actress said, "When Katrina agreed to do Anurag Basu`s film with Ranbir, no mention was made of another heroine, and certainly not of Priyanka. However, when word about this reached her, she found the whole idea of the credit titles reading `Ranbir-Katrina-Priyanka` too gimmicky. Not that she has anything against Priyanka or any other co-star."

However, there are other reasons involved too. Sources suggest that the real reason could be that Katrina wishes to get busy with her first production that is the remake of a French film.

Nevertheless, the dazzling actress doesn’t deny that she has decided to do only solo-heroine films. "I am not saying I won`t do films with other leading ladies, but for now, I`m happy in the space I am. Why should I unnecessarily rock the boat? And yes, I am finally about to lock the deal to produce my film. It`s a fabulous role and I`ve been angling for the remake rights for quite some time. I`d like to get down to it as soon as possible," said Katrina.

Well, looks like Priyanka stole the show yet again!

It’s a face-off between Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif

Priyanka Chopra who was touted to be the leading lady of Dostana sequel is now said to have lost the project to her archrival Katrina Kaif. We hear that Piggy Chops will only be seen in the film for a brief period of time and it is Katrina who’ll be playing a romantic interest to Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham.

We hear director Tarun Mansukhani is now busy penning an interesting scene where both the actresses will be seen locking horns.

Confirming the news a source told a daily, “It’s a face-off between Katrina and Priyanka. However, it is not a bitchy or dramatic scene, but a comic and light-hearted one.

Priyanka makes her entry when the Desi girl track (Priyanka’s song from ‘Dostana’) starts playing. The boys in the club then start looking at her instead of Katrina. The latter gets upset that the focus has shifted to Priyanka and breaks into a sexy dance with her.

Priyanka’s presence in the film was decided even before Tarun started scripting the film. In fact, she had personally told Tarun that she wanted to be part of the sequel.”

Mansukhani also confirmed Priyanka’s presence in the film but denied having decided on a scene for her.

Talking to a daily, he said, “Yes, Priyanka will surely be part of the film. She’s not just my favourite actress but also a very dear person. She has an important role. However, I am yet to figure out where and how she will appear as I am still in the scripting process.”

Just like two swords can’t be in the same scabbard, it’s rare to find two leading Bollywood actresses in the same movie without one of them being relegated to the sidelines. Only very rarely in films like Race or Bachna Ae Haseeno have top actresses come together and shared equal footage.

Now, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra , doubtlessly two of the most sought-after actresses in B-town, are being considered for parallel roles in the Hindi remake of the 2003 Hollywood heist flick ‘The Italian Job’ that starred Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Jason Statham and Seth Green, among others.

Though the Hollywood flick had just one heroine, director Rohit Jugraj (who’s previously directed duds like James and Superstar) has altered and modified the original script to Bollywoodize ‘The Italian Job’. The Hindi version will have two heroines. Kat and Priyanka have reportedly been approached for the roles.

It would be nothing short of a casting coup if the two beauties give their nod to sharing the screen space in the film. Being produced by Abbas-Mastan duo and TV 18, the yet untitled movie will star Abhishek Bachchan and Neil Nitin Mukesh in principal roles. Akshaye Khanna and Kunal Kapoor are also likely to play significant roles.

Katrina Kaif is planning to launch her own fashion house

It’s been just a week when Katrina Kaif had a minor operation. But the lady was adamant to pack her bags, to be with her family in London for the Christmas-New Year celebrations.

The beauty who took off on Wednesday from the city was said to be in deep pain, following a small stone surgery. The doctors were not happy about her decision to travel, however, the actress managed to get their green signal.

“New Year is always a family time for me. I am alright now. I got my doctor’s consent and so I am off to London,” quoted Kat before flying. Katrina will be back to her Mumbai home in the first week of January.

Meanwhile the latest buzz is that Katrina is planning to launch her own fashion house with the help of designer Rocky S.

Katrina Kaif to receive the Performing Excellence award

Starting from today, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) brings in ‘Focus 2009’.

As a part of its initiative, the 3rd Global Summit on Entertainment and Media was launched in Delhi at the Hotel Le Meridien.

The chairperson of ASSOCHAM Entertainment Committee is reported to be Gauri Khan, wife of Shah Rukh Khan and, as earlier mentioned, Juhi Chawla heads the Film and Animation Committee.

The event said to honour Katrina Kaif with the ‘Performing Excellence’ award. The question prevails whether Kat will be there to receive the award or not, as the beauty is in her bad health these days.

Katrina Kaif’s hemoglobin count continues to plummet

Its a bad news that the decrease in Katrina Kaif’s hemoglobin count continues to plummet, Katrina’s health is causing distress to all those who know her. Everyone around Katrina, well-wishers, co-stars, friends and family are beginning to be extremely worried about Katrina’s deteriorating health. On Sunday she was again at a suburban hospital to take further tests as her haemoglobin count continued to fall, despite treatment from the best doctors in the city.

Though Katrina has been extremely selective recently about the appearances she makes, she is obviously still straining too much and it is affecting her adversely. On Sunday Katrina woke up unable to get out of bed. The worst blow to her frail energy level was the hectic wedding of Salman Khan’s close family-friend Krishan Narayan’s daughter which Katrina attended for two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday for the sangeet and wedding.

A friend explained, “It was a commitment she couldn’t wriggle out of. The bride’s father, an associate of politician Praful Patel, is a very close friend of Salman Khan . And Katrina who has always looked at Salman’s friends as her own, had to be there.”

The result of two consecutive nights of merry-making was a relapse. On Sunday Katrina had to undergo a series of complicated medical tests that went on the whole day

The friend continued, “Katrina’s haemoglobin count continues to plummet. The doctors are perplexed by this. They can’t figure out what is causing this abnormality in her blood. She has been prescribed complete bed rest.”

When contacted, Katrina tried to dismiss her indisposition with. “I will be just fine. I just need to rest.”

Katrina Kaif out of Rakesh Roshan's Krrish 2

Had she accepted the offer, we would have seen quite a fresh couple on screen.

The doubts have been finally cleared as to who will be the leading of Krrish 2. The buzz was already making its rounds about Deepika Padukone who might mostly take the mantle. However, there was also Katrina Kaif in the director’s choice list. And now, they said to have confirmed on the tall dimple beauty.

Rumour mills spill it out that in fact Katrina was the preferred one. But as the lass had given her nod for Dostana 2 , it was not possible for Katrina to accommodate to this Hrithik starrer in her work list. And so Krrish 2 chose over Deepika instead.

“Rakesh Roshan came up with the idea of pairing Hrithik opposite Kat. They both would look really good together and it’s a fresh pairing. But she wasn’t too sure if she could commit and declined the offer politely,” revealed sources.

As for the one aspect that peeves her, the actress stated, “I just get upset because I’m an Indian and nobody has the right to question that. As Indians, we have that inherent sense of pride because we’re different.

We’re not fair-skinned and all that. And for me, it’s like robbing me of all this when somebody says that. A red flag goes up and I get furious. I can handle gossip and baaki sab, but not this.

I’ve faced that myself... I have faced the sense of not belonging in London. And people who are commenting about this aren’t doing it from an honest place.”

You can never get stagnated in this industry-Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is staring at a hat trick of sorts with De Dana Dan arriving after the stupendous success of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and a good box office hit in the form of New York. With both films being as different as chalk and cheese and boasting of Katrina as one of the key protagonists, the lady has pretty much consolidated her position further in the top bracket. With more than half a dozen other hits behind her in recent times, one wonders if she has actually stopped counting her hits?

"Really, I don’t see things like that. I take each movie at it’s own pace and don’t quite start looking at the work I have done in the past and go gaga about it. It’s like a new journey every time and hence has never got that feeling that ’Oh, since I now have so many successful films under my name, let me take it easy’. Yes, the way success helps you is reinstate the faith and belief that you have in yourself and push yourself to work harder. This is something that I am following", says Katrina who at one point of time wasn’t quite taken seriously when she began her Bollywood career with Boom (2003).

The film was a critical disaster and commercially too didn’t hold much ground after taking a good box office opening. It took her a good two years to land her next assignment (Sarkar - 2005) which was hugely successful at the box office even though she appeared in a miniscule role. However, the wheels had started moving and there wasn’t any looking back ever since then.

For a girl who was almost rejected 6 years back, it has been kind of a surreal dream to be actually reaching at this stage where she can not just pick and choose projects but perhaps also leading men."Actually even at the beginning of my career, I never felt rejected. I was still working hard and believed in myself. I wasn’t in a hurry and was picking and choosing projects carefully even then when I was just a newcomer. My attitude towards films hasn’t changed even after these years", she responds in a proper tone.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Katrina says, "Yes, it has been a long journey. It has been quite eventful too. The more you see, the more you learn, become confident and gain even more experience. The beauty of the profession that I am in is that it is a never ending process. You can also strive for better films and aim for playing better characters. You can never get stagnated in this industry."

Well, one thing is for sure that Katrina is not stagnating for sure. After a dramatic New York and a romcom Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, she would soon be changing genres with an out and out laugh riot De Dana Dan followed by political drama Rajneeti. Certainly, there are a lot more shades of Katrina waiting to come alive in months to come.

Katrina Kaif's look-alike Barbie doll has arrived in the country

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s look-alike Barbie doll has arrived in the country. It was designed to mark Barbie’s 50 years.

Katrina also walked the ramp as the showstopper for the "All Doll’d Up" special show dedicated to Barbie at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai earlier this year. She sported a small pink dress designed by well-known designer Neeta Lulla’s daughter Nishka. The ’Katrina Barbie’ will be wearing the same design.

"I’ve been a part of the entire process of doll making and it’s been quite fascinating. Since, I’ve been travelling out of Mumbai for the promotions of my movies; unfortunately I’ve not been able to see it yet. I’m really looking forward to see the doll as soon as I get back," Katrina said in a statement.

A product of Mattel Toys, the Katrina Barbie -- a commemorative product -- is not for sale.

Working with Katrina Kaif turned out to be a pleasure for Prakash Jha when the pretty lady volunteered to pay him the day’s shooting expenses as she couldn’t learn her lengthy dialogues and felt that she needed extra time for preparation.

Actuallty, it all happened on the sets of Rajneeti in Bhopal recently, where a heavyduty set-up headed by Nana Patekar , Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal was prepared for a day’s shoot but Katrina wasn’t ready with her dialogues.

Unwilling to make the director bear the loss, the actress made a unique offer to Jha. She offered to pay him back Rs. 15 lakh from her remuneration for the loss of work. Of course Jha did not take the money but he was ’touched’ by Katrina’s professional gesture.

Unit hands say that Katrina had taken it as a challenge and knew every dialogue when she came to shoot on second day. From the moment she arrived on the sets she was ready to face the camera and deliver her dialogues in chaste Hindi.

No wonder the lady is reigning quene!

Not many actresses would do something like this. On the sets of director Prakash Jha’s film Rajneeti in Bhopal recently, Katrina Kaif found herself in a tight spot. She wasn’t able to memorize her lengthy dialogues in Hindi for a scene and she feared that her shoot for the day had to be postponed. She needed at least a day to commit all those dialogues to her memory.

Unwilling to make the director bear the loss, the actress made a unique offer to Jha. She offered to pay him back Rs. 15 lakh from her remuneration for the loss of work. The pretty lass must have done her maths well to arrive at that figure as her average earning for a day.

Jha admits that he was “touched” by Katrina’s professional gesture.

However, he did not accept the wads of cash that Katrina offered and gave her an extra day to learn the dialogues.

The next day, Katrina did not let him down. From the moment she arrived on the sets she was ready to face the camera and deliver her dialogues in chaste Hindi.

In the movie, Katrina is pitted against big shots of acting like Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

There’s also a scene (canned during an earlier shooting schedule) in the film in which Katrina gives a long political speech in Hindi to a huge gathering. The actress gave the shot with such conviction that after the shot Prakash Jha asked the huge crowd: “Inko Bhopal ka ticket de de kya?”
