Haji Kaleemullah named Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Guava Fruit

So, it did not come as a surprise when grafting expert and Padmashree horticulturist Haji Kaleemullah Khan decided to name his new discovery, a sweeter variety of guava after this actress. The fruit resembles an apple in texture and is sweeter in smell and has more pulp with softer seeds.

“The new variety of guava is very different in taste, smell and look from the traditional and normal varieties grown in the country,” Kaleemullah told adding, “It took almost eight years to develop this unique variety of guava and no chemical fertiliser or pesticide was used in developing the same.”

“All measures were taken to ensure that the product is free from any possible side effect which chemical fertilizer or pesticide may have on fruits. One can get as many as 72 fruits on a 3.7 foot long tree”, Kaleemullah said.

In fact, Kaleemullah used Neem Oil as a pesticide to keep this unique guava free of any chemicals. Kaleemullah is known for growing unique variety of fruits especially mangoes. This Lucknow-based agriculturist has no formal qualification in agriculture but has immense knowledge on the subject. In May last year, the 70-year-old Khan grafted a new variety of mango, which he named after batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

“I am a 7th standard dropout and have been looking after the family business since 1957. My family’s record in this business goes back to 150 years. I am more interested in developing different varieties on a single tree and began the multiple grafting process,” he said.

Kaleemullah won the Padmashree for growing more than 300 varieties of mangoes of different shapes and sizes on one tree. The tree is about 100 years old and he started working on it in 1987 to develop the craft of growing different varieties on one tree.

Aishwarya suffers from fever

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai, who was supposed to arrive here Tuesday to promote her upcoming film ’Guzaarish’, had to cancel her trip at the last minute due to fever.

The actress has been jetsetting for promoting the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, in which she plays a nurse named Sofia.

Her co-star Hrithik Roshan too has been under the weather, but he accompanied Bhansali for the press conference in the capital.

’Guzaarish’, a story about a magician who becomes quadriplegic when one of his tricks goes wrong, will release Friday.

Good Chemistry is between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in Guzaarish

On-screen chemistry is something that exists between a film’s characters and not between the actors essaying the roles, says Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai about her success with co-actor Hrithik Roshan.
“Actually the chemistry is between characters that have been written (in script) and not between actors. When the audience experiences a moment that is magical between the characters you guys call it a sizzling chemistry between actors,” she said, when asked about her on-screen chemistry Hrithik ahead of the release of their “Guzaarish” Nov 19.
“It is an interesting coincidence that this is my third film with Hrithik Roshan. It was wonderful working with him. Earlier, we both have acted in two films ‘Dhoom 2′ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’,” she said.
“During ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ we both had said that we had done two movies which were diametrically opposite in terms of genre and perspective…both the films were hugely appreciated,” she told reporters while addressing a promotional event of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Guzaarish” here.
“Dhoom 2″ was set up in the backdrop of the 21st century. Hrithik played the role of a thief who steals valuable rare items using various hi-tech gadgets. He fell in love with Aishwarya, who was actually a spy working for the police. The film also had Aishwarya’s real life husband Abhishek Bachchan, who played a cop.
On the other hand, “Jodhaa Akbar” was a film which revolved around the romance of Mughal emperor Akbar, played by Hrithik, and his wife, Hindu Rajput princess Jodhaabai, played by Aishwarya.
“Then came Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzaarish’. We as co-actors were really excited to work in yet again a movie which was so different from the previous two. I think it rarely happens that as co-actors we are working in three movies which are so eminently and distinctively different from each other,” Aishwarya said.
“Guzaarish” revolves around the character of magician Ethan, played by Hrithik, who becomes quadriplegic when one of his tricks goes wrong. Aishwarya plays the role of a nurse, Sofia, who has been accompanying Ethan for the past 12 years.
Ethan’s life revolves around Sofia and they share a silent tacit love which is both beautiful and spirited.
“We both maintain and it’s true that as actors we always say that chemistry is on paper. It is there on paper in the script and in the screenplay.
We actors can only infuse life in it. But if that chemistry is absent in the script, we can try all we want but the moment will never be magical,” said the actress.
“I think when the audience experiences the moment that has actually been written and thought by the director that is all we call a magical moment or sizzling chemistry,” she said.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan uncomfortable with Hrithik in ‘Guzaarish’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan share a sparking chemistry on-screen and their steamy lip lock in blockbuster ‘Dhoom 2’ had created stirs nationwide, so much so that father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan had the makers of the film delete the scene.

There is no stopping this talented director. After successfully adapting Shakespeare to an Indian milieu and making other critically acclaimed movies, Vishal Bharadwaj is aiming higher now. Currently working on Dream Sequence with Naseeruddin Shah’s son Vivaan in the lead, Bharadwaj met up with the Bachchan bahu Aishwarya recently.

Our source said, “Bharadwaj briefed Ash about a project he has in mind. He met up with her for a short while. A full-fledged meeting is round the corner where the filmmaker and the actress will have a more in-depth discussion.”

Apparently, Vishal is kicked about female oriented themes. “After Saat Khoon Maaf and Kaminey with Priyanka Chopra, the filmmaker is keen to work with other actresses as well. Also, with things not falling into place with Saif Ali Khan, Vishal feels that is far easier to work on subjects based on women,” said our source.

A small war between Abhi and Ash

Looks like the honeymoon period for Bollywood’s power couple, Abhi and Ash is over and now the usual husband-wife tiffs have begun to tickle in, where misunderstandings and small fights are a part of everyday routine.

Recently on their way to award ceremony, Kunal Kapoor accompanied them and reportedly Aishwarya got too loud and vocal while Abhishek kept requesting her to keep her voice low.

It’s been heard that Jr. Bachchan wasn’t happy about Ash getting a little loud while they attended the award function and wanted her keep a low profile. But Ash ignored him and continued to be her real self.

Aishwarya Rai requested people ‘Don’t call me Ash’

It seems that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is tired of people addressing her by her nickname ‘Ash’ and has requested them to call her by her full name.

"When I joined the industry, people initially used to say they have difficulty in pronouncing my name, so they started calling me ‘Ash’. But now, it has been years and I guess, everyone can pronounce it properly," Aishwarya told reporters.

"So I would appreciate, if you people address me by my name - Aishwarya," she added.

The model-turned-actress walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra at the ongoing HDIL-India Couture Week and thanked her husband Abhishek for bringing the name issue in the forefront.

It is believed that Abhishek too had recently requested some journalists to refer to her by her full name.

Aishwarya needs Privacy

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may be a global icon but she values her family and privacy more than anything else. Aishwarya respects her privacy so much that she reportedly turned down a million-dollar deal by a Hollywood studio which offered to make a documentary on her life. They wanted to have a foreign crew follow her around for a week to get a glimpse of her personal life.
The said Hollywood studio tried to persuade Aishwarya a lot but she kept firm on her decision. She denied the offer politely saying that she would never want anyone to shoot at her home disturbing the privacy of the family.

It may be mentioned here that before this, a documentary has already been made on superstar Shahrukh Khan’s life and the documentary on Ash was to be made on the same lines but being truly a part of the Bachchan clan, she preferred to keep their family and personal life private. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan had also expressed publicly about his concern over privacy through his blog for the upcoming Mumbai Metro line.

Abhishek wants child from Ash

This is not the first time Abhishek Bachchan has revealed his desire to have two kids from his wife Aishwarya Rai. The last somewhat similar admission came almost a year back. Month after month has clocked by but there’s no sign of stork paying the couple a visit.

Now, in the September issue of GQ magazine, Abhishek says he’s not comfortable when asked when he and Ash would have kids. But he added that he would love to have two kids.

“I’ll be happy with two kids. I mean, I have me and my sister, so maybe that’s where it comes from. I feel these are blessings of God, and it should just happen as and when. You know, whenever it’s meant to be. I am against the whole thing of "Let’s plan it", you know, "We’re trying for a baby." I find that a bit weird,” he candidly revealed.

The actor, who has also posed for the magazine’s cover, added that he finds questions about Ash’s possible pregnancy intrusive.
“I find it very intrusive. I really don’t want to know when other people are having babies; why would you want to know when I’m having babies?” he said.

Age is just a number! When it comes to dedication towards work, Rajnikanth who is sixty can even try to learn a new dance form. For Endhiran, the superstar did the funk style dance called ‘popping’ with Aishwarya Rai.

“Yes, this is the first time that you would see Rajini and Ash attempt popping. The energy and finesse that they bring on to this dance sequence is something to eagerly look forward to.
