Personally
Kajol, born on 3rd August, 1975 is easily one of the most talented performers in the world, let alone India. She is a popular Bollywood actress whose histrionics can be competed by only one-her cousin Rani Mukherjee. Kajol who belongs to the Marathi Bengali roots is the descendant of people who have graced Hindi film industry since a long time. Her mother Tanuja is a talented actress and her father Shomu Mukhejee is a film producer. Her late maternal aunt was Nutan. Her cousins are Rani Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherjee and Mohnish Behl. Her sister is Tanisha Mukherjee, who acted in the Bollywood disappointment Neel and Nikki.
Kajol had a love marriage with the Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgan. She gave birth to her bundle of joy-Nysa, which means Goddess of Purity.
Professionally
Kajol has had a chequered career so far. She debuted at the age of 17 in the film Bekhudi way back in 1992. The film flopped but Kajol was noticed for her brilliant performance. She shot to fame with Baazigar in 1993. Though the movie also propelled Shahrukh Khan to the A-list of actors, Kajol also cemented a place for herself in the most happening of actresses at that time. Kajol’s chemistry with Shahrukh Khan sizzled Bollywood through mega hits Karan Arjun (1995), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). In fact, Kajol’s biggest hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, still runs in cinemas to this time, ie..11 years continuously. This is some achievement to the DDLJ team which
includes Shahrukh Khan and the dusky diva Kajol. Kajol won the best actress Filmfare award for DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Fanaa.
Kajol also won the best villain Filmfare award in 1997 for her towering performance in Gupt: The Hidden Truth. Acting comes naturally to her. Kajol has not taken part in any acting class. She reads a lot of novels and books and gets her training from there. Kajol performs beautifully in every movie be it a flop or a hit. Kajol was brilliant in Yeh Dillagi, awesome in a flop Uddhar ki Zindagi and classy in Fanaa(2006). With her husband, Kajol acted in movies like Ishq and Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha. Kajol took a break for some time when her baby Nysa was born in 2003. Kajol made a successful come back, looking gorgeous than ever in Fanaa, one of the biggest hits of 2006. She excelled in the challenging role of a blind Kashmiri girl. Kajol ended up getting a Filmfare award. Kajol has won the Best actress Filmfare award four times, a distinction
which she shares with Meena Kumari and Madhuri Dixit. Kajol’s aunt Nutan is the only actress who has a record number of five filmfare awards. Kajol is also a brand ambassador of Whirlpool brand of products. Kajol’s next film U, Me Aur Hum is the directoral vehicle of her husband Ajay Devgan where she will be paired opposite her husband. Not too many people know that Khamoshi was offered to Kajol first.
Kajol’s likes and dislikes
Kajol is a media-shy lady.
She does not like to be in center stage. She does not have a role model nor does she have a favorite movie. Still it is amazing that Kajol manages a powerpacked performance everytime she dons the make-up. In fact, she even hates make-up. KAJOL HATES MOVIES. In fact, she clears the air by telling that if you are approaching Kajol to talk about her favorite movies, you are speaking to the wrong person! Kajol fears stage performances which is the reasons she hardly performs on stage and comes there only to collect her awards.
Kajol loves reading a lot though here too she has no clear favorites, though she likes romantic fiction and sexy stories.Kajol also mentions that she has no goal or plan in life. I know this makes for a dull copy but then the persona that she enacts on thescreen is totally different to her real self. However the sexy Kajol has her strength in her spontaneity. Kajol is a veteran in her profeesion and that is what matters, eventually.
