Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Rab Ne Bana DiAditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is the topic of much speculation even before the first scene has been canned.

Shah Rukh Khan and Sonam Kapoor have been locked down to play the main leads and from what we hear the story might just be another Nishabd.

SRK is expected to play a 40 year old NRI who is based in the UK and leads the life of a loner. He returns to his hometown where he meets the young Sonam Kapoor. Playing a typical Punjabi kudi who is just 16 years of age, Sonam is expected to have all the attributes that SRK stays away from.

But slowly and steadily, Khan moves from being the recluse and loner to enjoying life thanks to Kapoor. But obviously their friendship doesn’t go down well with the village folks who look at this friendship of Sonam with a man 24 years her senior suspiciously.

Filming for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is expected to begin on May 12 and will be released at the end of the year on December 19.

This film will mark the return of Aditya Chopra to the director’s chair after his super hit Mohabbatein (2000). And although Yashraj may hope for a repeat performance from their head honcho with Nishabd still a part of most Bollywood viewers’ memories, the success of this film is something that even the Yashraj-SRK winning combination cannot guarantee!

Yash Raj has decided to step into animation films with Roadside Romeo which they are producing in association with Walt Disney. And the reins of direction are in the hands of the ‘masoom’ Jugal Hansraj.

Dharma Productions too will see a debutant director - Tarun Mansukhani with Dostana. Tarun assisted Karan Johar from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai till Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna and before that worked under Anand Mahendroo for Dekh Bhai Dekh.

The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol in a special appearance.

Well let’s see what these fresh talents can deliver.

Brand Ambassador of women power - Pooja Bhatt takes on Raigad’s cops head on

pooja bhatt If you thought that Women’s Day was over, then you better think again, for the ‘Brand Ambassador’ of women power- Pooja Bhatt- is leaving no stone unturned in taking the Raigad cops head on.

She vocally criticized the Raigad cops for failing to nab the culprits, who on Saturday, had hit two nuns on their private parts and attempted to strip them in Alibaug. And the adivasi women who had tried to save them were also attacked. The mob reasoned the attack by saying that hat the nuns was influencing the adivasis to turn to their faith.

Pooja backed these nuns saying that she has personally seen them build 200 homes for adivasis with proper sanitation and that she had personally spoken to the adivasis about them being influenced into Christianity and the tribals denied such charges. She also elucidated that she was against forcible or induced conversion, by giving her own family background as an example

Tamil actor Raghuvaran passes away

Raghuvaran

Renowned character actor Raghuvaran died here Wednesday after a weeklong fight to survive a cardiac arrest, the family said. He was 59.

Although separated from him, his former wife and actor Rohini was inconsolable. They have a nine-year-old son, Nanda. Honoured by the Tamil Nadu government with its premier “Kalaimamani” award, the actor had carved a niche for himself by his method acting. In a career spanning 26 years, Raghuvaran played hero, villain and character roles in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi movies rubbing shoulders with stars such as Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Sathyaraj, Mammooty and Mohanlal.

The distinctly different use of a cultured, baritone voice in a peculiarly slow, deliberate dialogue-delivery set Raghuvaran apart from the rest.
Noticed by critics immediately after his 1982 debut film “Ezhavathu Manithan” (Seventh Man), Raghuvaran played hero briefly and developed into a well-established character actor.

“Raghu came up through struggle and dedication and was unique in everything he did,” said South Indian Film Artistes Association President, actor and politician Sarath Kumar. Besides leading lights of the south Indian film industry like ace director Maniratnam and leading actor Vijay, Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin paid floral tributes to the dead actor.

Priyanka Chopra walks out of Pepsi deal

priyanka chopra

You will not see gorgeous Priyanka Chopra luring you into having a grab of Pepsi on the screens any more coz the lady is not Bollywood’s face of Pepsi any more. Reportedly, Priyanka has quit the endorsement she was not happy with the money being offered to her.

Lately, media was abuzz with the news that Priyanka was thrown out of the deal, but a friend of hers claims that it is all false and Priyanka herself chose to walk out of the deal.

“Priyanka just couldn’t agree with the price that was being offered. The Pepsi people wanted her to work for the same fee again that they paid her earlier. Priyanka wanted to re-negotiate the deal. When the company didn’t budge, she opted out,” the source said.

Adds the friend: “Priyanka is flush with endorsement assignments. In fact, she’s at this very moment shooting an ad with Saif Ali Khan in Bangkok.”

Saif and Priyanka in ‘Voice From The Sky’

priyanka chopra

Farhan Akhtar has set upon his new project ‘Voice From The Sky’. He has cherished this project from a long time back 2002-2003 but was waiting for the right time to happen.

The film is primarily the story of a little boy who meets two people, i.e. the main leads of the film. Farhan has chosen Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka Chopra to play the main lead and is on the lookout for his child protagonist. First, Irrfan Khan was supposed to play the lead, but then Saif happened.

Says Akhtar,”I thought of Irrfan for the lead. But then Saif seemed a more natural choice. He’s amazingly apt for the part. After Dil Chahta Hai we wanted to work together. We did come close to working together in my sister Zoya’s film. Finally ‘Voice From The Sky’ turned out to be the right film.”

Farhan is also very kicked about working with Priyanka Chopra. “She’s really hassle-free, and according to me still has lots of untapped potential. Her role in Voice From The Sky is very different from whatever she has done so far.

Although the movie will have both English and Hindi dialogues, Farhan retorts, “It won’t be in Hinglish. There’re certain people who will speak only in English. Others will speak in Hindi.”
